Everyone posts their new 25k limit credit cards but here’s me, a 4 year member getting denied. Data Point.
The good news is they give you all of the things you need to work on in able to get approved. Deposit more money into your account’s. Do not apply for credit for at least 6-12 months and let inquiries fall off. Get yourself an Authorized user account. I would also recommend doing a pledge loan with them. You should be set if you apply these above mentioned More on reddit.com

June 10, 2023 - Navy Federal also hit me with a 25k but it was the platinum card, no rewards, but my apr was 8.99 but has gone up to 10% now, pretty sure it will be going up soon ... Do a product change to any other card if you want rewards. If you travel a lot, I'd recommend the Flagship with 3x the points on most everything having to do with travel. Process takes about 10 minutes over the phone without a credit pull.

r/NavyFederal on Reddit: Got approved for 25k just now
November 9, 2024 -

Background… I’ve been with Navy Federal for a little over a year, with deposits coming in. A few months back, I tried out the $500 pledge loan “hack” and paid it off recently. Got a preapproval letter for the CashRewards Plus, decided to take a chance, and applied.

So here’s where I’m at: I’ve got 4 hard inquiries (was planning to remove 3 before applying), a 789 credit score, credit age of 4 years+, 3% utilization, no derogatory marks, good payment history, and 12 active accounts (might add more soon).

I’m not 100% sure what to do with the extra funds yet. Could go towards smart investments, maybe an emergency fund, or just as backup while I’m in college working on building high-income skills. Hoping to land a good-paying role soon, and maybe I’ll put some toward something fun if there’s room.

Any thoughts, opinions, or advice on how to move forward would be appreciated!
