Credit Cards With Navy Federal. Are They Worth It?
IMO, I think that card is great for everyday spending. You have two options though, the cash rewards and the plus. The cash rewards gives 1.5% cash back while the plus gives 2%. If you get approved of a credit limit of more than 5k, you’ll get the plus. If not, you’ll get the cash rewards with 1.5% cashback. What I like bout the card is I can redeem my cashback as statement credit or transfer to my checking. Some just let you redeem it as statement credit. Another thing too, to get approved for the plus, you need very good to excellent credit For the cash rewards, you need average to good credit More on reddit.com

What’s so special?
They're mainly great for high credit limits and building up your credit profile. Past that there isn't much else. Most of their credit cards are B-Tier in terms of rewards, but have the perk of having no foreign transaction fees and no balance transfer fees. The Navy Fed Flagship card is an A-Tier catch-all travel card because of the lack of foreign transaction fees and low annual fee. Ultimately it depends on what you want out of credit cards. Some people like having 5 - 20 credit cards to max out on different reward categories, while some want "catch-all" cards to simplify their finances. I should mention that their rates for loans/mortgages are really good. Always lower than my local credit unions when I look around. The main weakness with Navy Fed is their deposit accounts. Their interest rates for their savings accounts suck and they don't have a High Yield Savings option. Keep in mind that no bank has everything though. Banks have to balance perks and profitability to stay afloat. ⚖️ More on reddit.com

So I have been seeing many posts about the Navy Federal credit cards and the cashRewards card specifically. I have Chase Sapphire Preferred because of their limited 100k bonus points special (easy to get for me because I used it for taxes and other small things). But I wanted to see if it is worth it to have the Chase card and the cashAwards card. What are the differences between them?

If you’re asking if it’s worth having more than one credit card, sure, it can be. Comparing a simple Cash Back card against one of the most popular points cards almost doesn’t seem fair. Also the CSP is a premium card with extra credits/benefits possible. Cash Rewards Plus is 2% cash back on everything, what we call a “catch-all card”. It’s good for everyday spend, you’re getting fair rewards on everything, it fills the gap that other category cards only give 1%/1X back on. The CSP gives 3X on dining, online grocery and streaming(?), 5X on travel portal and 2X on other travel. But 1X on everything else like (you mentioned-) taxes. Personally, I’m team Cash Back. Some of my cards may be points but they redeem to statement credit as cash at their full value.
