I really want to sign up, but these concerns are preventing me:
Netflix is asking for ONLY CREDIT CARD details. No debit card, no netbanking, no wallet payments.
Even for the 1 month trial, it is asking my credit card details even before starting the TRIAL.
I am reluctant to share credit card details. (I understand that I will be given an intimation and sufficient time before the end of trial period and my CC is about to be charged.)
I had a chat with their Customer Support, and they said that I could also pay via Google Play, so I installed the Netflix app and tried to register on my phone, but again only Credit Card option was there.
To those who have registered and are using Netflix, please help me with these questions:
Have you been able to pay successfully using other modes of payments? If yes, what are they?
If you are paying with Credit Card, do you feel safe knowing that Netflix India has your Credit Card information stored? Do you get an OTP or something similar before the charge is levied?

International websites by and large mean 'Credit/Debit' card whenever they say 'Credit Card'. Its the same thing with Apple Music and Google Play, but they both take international debit cards issued in India. I have used my HDFC Bank Debit card for both. You will not get any OTP, and organizations end up keeping your card details on file. You have no option but to trust them. We cannot even frame laws to regulate this kind of activity because they do not come within our jurisdiction (since the remittance happens on an international payment gateway), so either you take the calculated risk and enter your details or you walk away. The key way to hedge yourself is to block international transactions on your debit card, and enable it ONLY when undertaking a specified transaction. If your subscription expires, so be it..its better than being charged without consent. OH OH!..Also..you can always create a VIRTUAL CARD if your bank allows it. HDFC has this thing called NetSafe which creates one-time use cards for free. Its just a pain in the ass to renew your subscription each time.

This is my first post here, so apologies if something is out of order or if posts like these aren't allowed.
I am planning to purchase a Netflix subscription for my mom in India, and I'm trying to find out if I can pay for it using my local (US) credit card (that I use for my own Netflix subscription). If such a feature is not supported, are there any other options like PayPal?

Just make the account and share the password with her and It will work normal no worries, you can even share your personal account (if you have one) with her

You might need to take a detour via PayPal. My wife had a 6 month promo for Netflix from her former ISP in the Philippines: we switched to my (German) credit card (via PayPal) since we live in Germany now and pay less than the German standard for 4K.

If you’ve used your Netflix account outside India and paid in a different currency, you won’t be able to pay now. You’ll need to contact customer support — they’ll reset your account, after which you can add your Indian card or UPI. Otherwise, you’ll have to create a new Netflix account.
