Pretty impressive that The Irishman is still in the top 5. Obviously the long runtime helps but over 100 million views for a lengthy, bleak crime epic is still great. More on reddit.com

Netflix has a mandate that all their original productions be filmed in 4K or higher for archival purposes. Until just recently, the only ARRI camera capable of that constraint was the Alexa65, a camera used on films like Star Wars: Rogue One and The Revenant.ARRI is second to none regarding cinematic color science. They make their cameras from the ground up, whereas their nearest competitor -- Panavision -- had to partner with RED to create their newest digital flagship, the Millennium DXL. There's a dozen or so camera manufacturers with chips that will natively record 4K. RED, Sony and Panasonic lead that pack. All of them are used to capture content for television through the theater. The biggest thing you're noticing is the colorspace through compression.... something Netflix is actually very good at. But streaming 4K video, uninterrupted, at less than 50Mb/s 16Mb/s is a whole different ballgame than the DI's you're seeing in the movie theater, running at 250Mb/s. EDIT: I hope all of you remember this a year from now, but Netflix' most expensive film to date, The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese, will be out next November. They're going balls to the wall on it. Principle Photography was completed last year and now they're in post digitally altering DeNiro, Pacino and Pesci's faces for a story that transpires over four decades. They're taking their time on it... I'll pass judgement on Netflix' look after I see their flagship. And you better believe I'll be watching it both in the theaters AND streaming it to see the differences.
