So the official NetNewsWire blog posted this morning:
Are we training our kids for authoritarianism through belief in Santa? You can be naughty or nice. There is a list — doubly checked. The list says who gets benefits and who gets punishments. And, especially, you have to believe in the man at the literal top of the world who can enter every home.
But the post URL is not found https://netnewswire.blog/2024/12/11/are-we-training.html
Mistake? Hacking? Amusing whatever it was.
I’m using NetNewsWire on macOS and iOS, using iCloud a the database to keep read/unread articles consistent between devices. It is AWESOME. But I can’t install the app on my work machine.
Is there a web version of NetNewsWire - or another RSS reader on the web - that can integrate with the NNW db on my iCloud?
There's a really fantastic iPhone RSS reader called NetNewsWire, and it's the most polished thing I've ever come across for reading feeds. It doesn't require a login or account, it fetches the feeds from the app without a server, doesn't spam with notifications, and provides handy views like showing just todays unread stories.
I've tried so many free RSS readers for android and I still haven't found anything like the above.
They either require a login (!!!!!) and want to connect to some cloud aggregators instead of fetching locally. They spam the notifications which I have to turn off, or not make it easy to stop the constant background refreshing so I end up having to use the Force Stop a few times a day. And they're ugly and glitchy.
Is there any android RSS reader like netnewswire? I absolutely don't want to have to create an account.
Thanks
Hi guys, I’m looking for news aggregators. I’ve heard that Reeder 5 is great app, but i’m not sure if it’s really worth to spend over 10 USD. Would you recommend it?
New to RSS even though it’s been a thing forever.
I’ve settled on using NNW on my iPhone since it looks like the best free option. I like the simplicity, speed, bug free aspects and from my research it looks like people recommended it just as much as other popular ones like Reeder and Inoreader.
My only gripe is that it’s not available for windows. What would be the easiest way to sync my feeds on NNW with a browser extension or app on Windows? Even considering using Outlook RSS on Windows if that’s an option.
On a side note does NNW have the ability to filter content like NewsBlur does (reducing the noise of busy feeds) or at least keyword search?
I ritually seek out what's happening around the world, and I have some 5-6 apps for that. Lately though, I feel saturated and exhausted having to browse so many apps. Need an app that's versatile and less exhausting (preferably not exhausting at all) to use
Hey friends!
Remember Google Reader? That thing I wouldn't shut up about back in 2013 when Google killed it? Well, I finally did something about it - I built my own RSS reader app!
It's called Today, and after some evening and weekend coding, it's finally on the App Store. I'm pretty proud of it.
The idea came from my work at Automattic (just hit 7 years there this week!), where we use RSS feeds constantly. I kept thinking, "Why isn't there a simple, clean RSS reader that just... works?" So I made one.
The cool part? It has some AI features built in - but the AI runs entirely on your phone, so your reading habits stay private. It can help you figure out what's worth reading when you have 50 unread articles, or suggest interesting stuff based on what you usually like.

(Also yes, I'm still that person who insists RSS is amazing and everyone should use it. Some things never change. )

I am looking for an alternative because i have a lot of issues syncing a new device, it doesn’t show any feed. Is reeder 5 a good alternative? Or do you recommend me another?
Is there a fix to the title? Are there any other apps that support push notifications that are free?
Hello.
I've heard a lot of good things about NetNewsWire and I'm giving it a try. Is it normal that the fonts take so long to update (it's the first time I start it)? I have tested it with both iCloud, Feedbin, Inoreader and Feedly, but the same thing happens. Could it be because I have too many sources?
Thanks for the help and greetings.
Grey mentioned he uses RSS to subscribe to YouTube feeds. Does anyone know how to do this?
I'm looking at some rss reader like Lire, Cupfeed Readkit and Reeder Classic. What are you using?
Just started using NNW, and it looks as if the images in each article don't download until you open that article.
I'd like to be able to just open the app while on the plane, or when I otherwise don't have wifi, and be able to read through the lists, with all the images included. I'm hoping I don't have to open all the articles one by one ahead of time with internet access to do that.
Is there any way to have the reader download all image articles automatically? If not, is there another reader app that does this?
