There are no new AirPod pros all they announced today were software updates. They’re not releasing a new pair.

None Apple just decided to call them AirPods Pro 2 for this keynote because why not. But they are the exact same model/thing (TLDR Apple didn’t launch new AirPod Pros they just called them differently for the keynote)

Has anybody jumped straight from Airpods 2 to Airpods Pro 2? What was your experience?
I currently have regular Airpods 2, and never had the chance to try something better (such as Airpods Pro or Airpods 3). I’ve never tried ANC and have no idea what to expect.
Recently, I’ve ordered Airpods Pro 2 and they were scheduled to arrive by Monday, but were postponed for a week. With all the hype around, honestly, I can’t wait!!!
I would really love to hear about the experiences of people who were in the same position as me.

I did the jump! I Had the AirPods 2nd gen for a couple of years and wanted to upgrade. I stand by my decision 100%. The AirPods Pro 2nd gen are absolutely amazing and definitely worth the upgrade. Better sound quality, the bass is better due to the nature of the shape, ANC alone makes it worth the switch, and the transparency mode is really interesting. As a side note, before I only really used my AirPods when I was in the gym or going on walks. I am an IEM person (I have way too many) but the Pro 2nd gen have made me use them almost exclusively since I got them.

Jumped from the original 1st AirPods to the AirPods Pro 2nd Generation. All I can say is, I’ve never had an experience with headphones before that have truly blown me away. That should speak volumes in itself. The ANC is amazing. I think it’s important to manage expectations. It’s not going to make you deaf. You will still be able to hear some things, but it really does drown out so much noise. The best way to really experience the ANC is to use it in public. There is so much background noise out in public that ANC really shines though and makes it seem like you’re walking through a library or a exhibit at a museum. You’ll still be able to hear some people talking at really low volumes, but all other background noise like the engine of cars, wind, footsteps of hundreds of people, they’ll all be drowned out. When you have music playing however, even at low volumes, this will drown out everything, you won’t hear anything but your music. The ANC is by far my favourite feature and has actually improved my volume levels as I always use to play music with loud volume, now with ANC I only play music at low volumes because I can hear my music crystal clear! ANC transports you. You will literally feel like you’re in your own little bubble. Just you and your music, nothing else. Transparency mode is magical. It will confuse you at first, because it just sounds like you’re not wearing anything. To understand how good the transparency mode is, you should switch everything to ‘off’ so there is no ANC or transparency, that way you can hear for yourself what it’s like just to have the AirPods in your ears with no effect. Then switch it to transparency and you will truly understand how good it is. It’s so good that everything sounds so realistic. It’s hard to even contemplate yet that what you’re hearing is actually coming from your microphones to your speakers. There is no delay, and everything sounds real. It sounds like a massive hole has opened in your AirPods to let sound in. That’s how good it is. You will not be able to tell that what you’re hearing is all digital. Be excited. You are going to absolutely love them!

Just got the Gen 2 and have been using them for about 3 weeks. Absolutely love them. For me the biggest changes over Gen 1 are the volume control on the earpieces (very handy), and the awesome noise cancellation mode which is much improved IMO. Just came from a cross country flight where the noise level in the plane from the engines, general chatter, and kids screaming was deafening. As soon as I put the earpiece in and hit noise cancellation it literally vanished and all I heard was blissful quiet and soft music. Really something!
