Task was absolutely excellent. A rather simplistic story, anchored by the two fantastic leads, and an equally solid supporting cast. A thrilling and emotional seven episodes.

Just finished Task and I am not ashamed to admit that the last episode made me cry like a baby. Overall an incredibly beautiful and thoughtful show that I don't think I will be able to stop thinking about for a while. There were moments in some of the earlier episodes where the writing felt a bit uneven, but in terms of acting, character development, music, cinematography, there was just so much to win you over. The thing that impressed me the most though was how rich it was thematically. Far beyond a simple cops and robbers story where the criminal aspect takes centre stage, this show really seemed to build itself around its themes, such as guilt and being consumed by ones past, forgiveness, redemption, and finding a way forward through darkness. I think the closest thing this show reminded me of is Rectify, which is in my opinion the single most underrated TV show I've ever seen. If you enjoyed the family aspects of this, I'd highly recommend that show as well as it deals with similar themes, specifically how a family can move passed horrific events. Anyways I'm really glad I watched that show and I hope Mark Ruffalo wins all of the awards for this. The only show that hit me harder than this in 2024 was Adolescence, which come to think of it is also quite similar in some ways!
