Hi!
I've been wanting to purchase a budget laptop for awhile now since I'll be enrolling into a program that requires Windows rather than Mac.
I saw that Newegg offers a refurbished laptop for under $300, but I'm hesitant to buy it as I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews about their products especially with scams and third party sellers.
The item I want to buy says it is sold and shipped by Newegg and I saw a lot of comments in other threads saying it is safe as long as the item says that.
So I wanted to know if it is worth purchasing the item from Newegg considering that it is refurbished and sold/shipped from Newegg.
I appreciate any guidance!
I've had nothing but good experiences with Newegg before the two times I got defective items buying new, but this is the first time I'm considering refurb

This laptop is available refurb for much less than new. Would you consider worth it? Please share your experiences.
Long story short I'm looking to upgrade via prebuilt I've found one I like for a good price but it's refurbished. It's sold and shipped by Newegg, I'm ready to pull the trigger just wanted to see if anyone has had any experiences (positive or negative) buying refurbished from Newegg. Thanks.
There are some GPUs on Newegg that are refurbished that are decently priced. Does anyone have experience buying a refurbished gpu? I’ve only ever bought gpus brand new or sometimes used from hardwareswap.
Anyone have any experience of buying a refurbished laptop from Newegg?
I occasionally see decent mark downs on refurbished PCs and have come across one with the specs I've been looking for in a pc and was wondering if I should worry about it's refurbished state
It's listed as sold and shipped by newegg of that matters
Had my 1080 finally die last month. Saw that Newegg was offering 3070s supposedly refurbished by Gigabyte for sale at a decent price, money has been tight and I need my computer for work and I need a decent video card for it.
First card showed up on the 8th, artifacts on boot. RMA, took 10+days round trip, and the new card is artifacting on boot and giving me error 43 in windows, on multiple machines. I'm sitting here and the only return I can do is for a replacement and it's obvious it's a bad batch of cards, since I've purchased it, a review has shown up on the site with similar issues.
Just be warned I guess waiting to hear back from support to see what can be done but apparently newegg is not great lately.
Has anyone bought refurbished items from newegg? What was your experience? Would you recommend buying refurbished?
I bought a refurbished GTX 460 from Newegg. It was artifacting right out the box, and their customer support wasn't great. They took it back fine, but without even asking me, refunded the price (minus the shipping I paid) despite having several more refurb 460's in stock.
That was my last purchase from them.
I bought a refurb SSD from newegg. $80 shipped for a 120 gigs with 1.5 year warranty. It died on me from some freaky windows driver crash (I can't explain it). Despite the headache, it's been worth it. I also picked up a refurb h60 for $27 and it's worked flawlessly.
I found this refurbished MSI desktop and was curious on whether it is something I should consider buying. I've had good and bad experiences with refurbished tech before, however I've never dealt with Newegg.

This seems like a too good to be true deal? It says it's direct from Lenovo and doesn't say Refurbished like others do. Is this real? And how is it so cheap?
i'm looking to get a cheap optiplex but am not sure which 3rd party sellers are trustworthy. even ones with lots of reviews i'm pretty skeptical about because they all seem pretty generic.
I'm looking to buy the 5700x3d and the only places I can find them are on amazon and Newegg (Canada). The one on amazon is 380 cad and the one on Newegg is 400 cad so I'm wondering which ones safer to buy. The other option for the cpu is the 5800x3d its about 250 dollars more so I would much rather buy the 5700x3d.
I found a CPU on Newegg that is listed as refurbished. It's about $140 less then if I bought brand new. Has anybody bought a refurbished CPU from Newegg before? I know Newegg used to be pretty sketchy but it seems they've straightened up since GN exposed them, so I'm wondering if it's safe to get this CPU.
Just wondering if anyone has bought a refurbished laptop from Newegg, and if they've had good luck with them or if it is too much of a crapshoot.
Late response, but here was my experience with one:
ASUS Refurb from Newegg - lasted 3.5 years Audio port was finnicky, and about 3 false alarms of the GPU dying for a few hours. The device also seemed to run hotter than it should.
Eventually the keyboard was failing to register a few keys and the HDD's boot sector died..
It was not good as new, but it was well worth it for the discount it had.
I've bought open box, recertified and refurbished hardware (not laptops sadly, monitors, mobos, gpus mostly) and for the most part, it's pretty reliable. At least in my experience I haven't had issues with anything I've purchased.
You do obviously run a risk of not being properly refurbished. But in my experience, it isn't super likely to happen.
You can only find these used right now. And this would be perfect for my case.
Has anyone ever bought a refurbished GPU from Newegg?
I am in the market for my first chromebook. Looking to stay in the 300-400 range. I am interested in the HP X2, HP x360, and the ASUS C434. I know the Asus is out of my price range with little to no discounts. Newegg currently has the refurbished x360 for $309.99. I see the X2 and x360 new for $399.99 every now and then. My question is: is buying refurbished from Newegg worth it to save the $90. Also, what has your experience been with refurbished from Newegg or other retailers?
