It's just that Sony has positioned their Alpha line for professionals and it has proven to be very capable. So, naturally, people may switch or choose Sony if they feel that Sony offers what they want. I switched to Sony from Canon because of Sony's superior sensor technology. The UX on the other hand is worse on Sony compared to Canon but that was not the main factor for me - the IQ was. I wanted wide dynamic range. I wanted minimal noise in shadows. I also wanted MILC rather than DLSR. MILC makes shooting much easier as you can see what you get with live viewing. By the time I switched, Canon released a new sensor technology that's competitive with Sony but it was too late. It was priced way too high and it would not allow third party native lens. I love my Sony A7R V. Zero regrets. I've used Canon, Nikon, and Sony. I don't think you really can go wrong with any of those brands if you put equal priorities for all. You just have to be aware that you really do get what you pay for. The more expensive the camera is, the more performant it gets. More on reddit.com
