December 23, 2021 - I also obviously much prefer the size and weight of the RF 50/1.2 to the Nikon (although in fairness I haven’t used the Nikon , maybe it will wow me?) to me it came down to DR/Image quality/color, and the Canon was a downgrade in all 3. I did a side by side landscape shoot with the R5 and D850 and that sealed it. I need a 120fps EVF for my eye not to hate me, so I’m waiting for Z7iii or z8.

For the price difference, you can purchase an excellent Nikon Z-serie prime lens or upgrade your tripod, both of which will improve your image quality more than the Canon EOS R5.. If image quality is your starting point, then the two cameras are practically identical.
