June 25, 2023 - I'd wager Canon and Sony shooters looking for more speed would be better off buying an R5 + R6 or A1 respectively, vs selling everything off for a Z8 for example. June 7, 2023 - We’ll have to move ahead to find that out. The newly announced Nikon Z8 (Amazon, B&H) has a phase hybrid autofocus with 493 points while the Sony a7R V (Amazon, B&H) has 693 phase detection points.

January 19, 2025 - The smaller Sony body also uses CFexpress Type-A cards, which are considerably slower than the Type-B cards used by Nikon. However, while CFexpress type B memory cards are technically faster than CFexpress type A memory cards, in benchmarks, cameras like the Nikon Z8 with its memory card speed, or the Panasonic GH6 or the Fujifilm X-H2s and especially the Canon R5 memory card speeds, none of these cameras are using CFexpress type B cards to their full potential.

June 27, 2023 - Nikon is heavier then others. Portrait: doing some portrait shoot with the 70-200. Z8 focuses on the eylashes, while other cameras on the iris. OK. Skin tone on Z8 and R5 are warmer, on A7R5 more purple (more natural ?!). And Tony complains about weight again.
