The Z9 is exponentially better in basically every metric than the D5. Why on earth would you buy it to use as a secondary when it’s so much better? But that’s an aside. Currently I shoot with a D5 and D3. My D3 has finally gone out on me. I plan on getting a Z9 for a second body and have seen quite a few used between $4100-$4500. I absolutely love my D5 because I shoot mainly at night(Drag Racing). I plan on using the Z9 for panning shots and remote trigger action shots. Has anyone here bought a used Z9 instead of brand new? If so, can you tell me what I should be weary of? Thanks.

If you buy it from FB Marketplace or Craigslist, be sure to check for: Sensor dust/cleaning marks Sensor cover actuation (when you turn the camera off) Writing images and video to card, check for both card slots Battery condition (should be 0/New). Also make sure it's the 3300 mAH version of the battery that came with the Z9 (EN-EL18d, not A/B/C) Whether the camera charges the battery in-body, when powered on Cosmetics: peeling rubber, white marks, scratches on screens, paint wear, chips, etc., Accessories: charger (keep in mind you can use USB-C on the camera directly to charge, but having a charger is handy when you have multiple batteries), USB C to C cable, cable holder, manual (read it, especially since you're coming from D5), box. Extras: see if the seller can bundle CF Express card(s), card reader, FTZ converter, etc., You'll save about 200-300 dollars compared to buying from a retailer, but you'll not have any warranty. Either ways, Z9 is a fantastic camera, your D5 will quickly become your secondary. Just make sure you try all the features of Z9 at least once (precapture, autocapture, AF zones, starlight mode... Too many to mention here). All the best!

I'm a bit underwhelmed with the Z8. I'm leaning toward the Z9. We all know the list price is $5,499.95.
But B&H is offering a free $150 battery. Adorama is offering $299 Capture One Pro (not sure I really need it). They both have credit cards that offer discounts as well.
