The No frills on upper james and mohawk is the worst no frills, it's terrible. If you don't mind the drive, the one on main close to ottawa is nicer. Or the one on mohawk and magnolia? i think. There's Food basics which is fairly cheap as well on Mohawk and Upper Paradise. The stores that are fairly cheap are Food basics, freshco, and no frills. Lococos on Kenora and barton is also good for meat and ontario grown produce. edit - WHoops = meant to say Kenora and Barton not queenston.. i was thinking of starsky location More on reddit.com

No Frills is Loblaws with different branding to attract a different demographic. As are most grocery stores. Part of the reason we're paying so much is because we only have the illusion of choice, not real alternatives. More on reddit.com

This sucks, it is not the greatest store but it is in a really convenient spot and I have probably been shopping there for like 15 years. I am kind of shocked that it has been "under performing" it always seemed really busy. More on reddit.com

Do yourself a favour, and go to Lococos! The pillow sized bags of spinach for $5.99 make the trip worth it. They sell a high volume of produce, so things always look nice. Only complaints are that the yams tend to oxidize the second you peel them, and the garlic is enormous - but other than that, GO! More on reddit.com

Hi guys. Does anyone know of a better No Frills or a budget friendly, clean, grocery store with a wide and fresh selection? We have just moved to Hamilton and have notice out local No Frills is terrible. The store is way to small and dirty, the produce is gross and the selection is limited. My wife has always shopped at No Frills but we have found out local mountain location (Upper James and Mowhawk) is a disappointment. Fortinos is great but it is really affecting our wallets. We also trust the Presidents Choice brand so that has generally limited us to these two.
