No Starch Press sells its books in PDF, EPUB, & MOBI formats. Does anyone know of more publishers that do this?
I used to be able to download epub versions of Kobo books on their website, albeit with DRM. Is this not the case anymore? More on reddit.com

NOSTARCH BOOKS but from where?
I buy NoStarch Press books from Humble Bundle where they have frequent bundles. The PDFs are all printable and not restricted. More on reddit.com

Guide with nostarch press Books
There's often deals on HumbleBundle, but they aren't always aimed at security, and even some that are aimed at security cover cloud and certifications which might kot be of interest to you. Some like the automate the boring stuff with python are available for free, I don't know of others but there may be, worth a search. Other than that, I don't know, but I can recommend their books. I've only heard good things about them, and the bits I've read (I got some system administration books from them and one for APIs) have been great. Although I think HTB/Academy may be better value for money at your stage. They're always great, and much cheaper. With a student subscription you can get access to the CBBH/CPTS modules for about 10 euros a month. Also I wouldn't recommend buying from the cheap guy that you know is pirating, you would essentially be encouraging that kind of behaviour, and you'd be better off pirating them yourself than paying someone else to do so for you. I know it's pretty hard getting stuff lime that in a poorer country, but that's life. I personally did pirate stuff when I was in the same situation (mostly games), but now I've got a job and can afford to pay for it and support the people. More on reddit.com

r/books on Reddit: No Starch Press sells its books in PDF, EPUB, & MOBI formats. Does anyone know of more publishers that do this?
January 7, 2019 -

As a Linux user, it is important to me to be able to acquire e-books in the form of actual files, such as EPUB or MOBI. None of the big book vendors like Amazon or Kobo have PC apps for Linux and they don't make their books available in readable formats for Linux e-readers like Bookworm and Calibre.

This has been a source of much consternation to me, and since I want more options beyond the Kindle web app (which is my only convenient way to read e-books sold by a big vendor) I am looking for other possibilities...

One author let me know that he sells EPUB versions of his books directly, although he unfortunately got little traction with it. And I found that the publisher No Starch Press does the same, as well as offering PDF and MOBI formats.

Do you guys know of any more authors or publishers who do this? It would be a great service to not just Linux users, but anyone who wants to truly own a copy of their e-books while still obtaining them legally and in support of the authors and publishers.

October 18, 2024 -

Hey fellows,

I am a cyber sec student who wants to read books, but only publishers are of no starch press. I have heard that these books are very awesome, but the problem is they are tooo expensive, I have a bookstore near me who sells their books (but I know he downloads pirated copies and prints them), else their books are very expensive for me. How can I read the books, could anyone guide me? I tried to search used books but still they are expensive (30$ with delivery to my country) how can i get that knowledge? Please help. And also I would prefer hard-copies because I cannot read continoulsy in PDFs. If I could get the permission to print the given PDFs for only personal use that would be great.

I mean is there a person or organization, who buys books and give them to students for free/minimal charges? Without piracy?
