With https://github.com/substack/node-browserify you can work with buffers in the Browser by using: https://github.com/toots/buffer-browserify. However: this can be very slow in the browser: For faster access use https://github.com/chrisdickinson/bops

Goodbye Node.js Buffer
In case you're too lazy to read: The blog post discusses the Node.js Buffer's history, its issues like security vulnerabilities and inefficiencies, and the introduction of a new alternative, TypedArray. The author explains how TypedArray addresses Buffer's shortcomings, providing a more secure and efficient way of handling binary data in Node.js. The transition from Buffer to TypedArray marks a significant improvement in Node.js, aligning it with modern JavaScript standards. If you don't like the summary, just downvote and I'll try to delete the comment eventually 👍 More on reddit.com

How can I use node.js buffer library in client side javascript - Stack Overflow
This is because (in case you were not aware) Node.js is a javascript runtime, therefore Node.js specific functionalities do not exist within a browser environment, because they are associated with the V8 engine, but not the V8 engine within a browser (note the difference here). So essentially, uncaught refernce error: buffer is not defined means that this this doesn't exist in the browser. https://nodejs... More on stackoverflow.com

What is buffer in Node js?
A buffer is simply a representation of binary data. Everything in nodejs, from a string, to a bool, can be watered down into 1’s and 0’s. A buffer lets you take binary, a string, or a number, and then turn it into bits. Buffers are used with the Filesystem (“fs”), HTTP requests/servers, and more commonly in “streams”. Edit: streams take a buffer (or, another stream) and break it into a bunch of tiny buffers. When doing stuff like compression, encryptions, etc. then the stream will make sure only a small buffer is calculated at a time, sending in the small buffers in one at a time. More on reddit.com

buffer - npm
November 8, 2019 - As mentioned above, require('buffer') or use the Buffer global with browserify and this module will automatically be included in your bundle. Almost any npm module will work in the browser, even if it assumes that the node Buffer API will be available. To depend on this module explicitly (without browserify), require it like this:
      » npm install buffer

An attempt at mimicing node.js's Buffer API in the browser using typed arrays. This project uses a lot of code from node.js's (lib/buffer.js)[https://github.com/joyent/node/blob/master/lib/buffer.js]. This library still needs a lot of work both to get it running across the board and to clean up some of the pollution it puts on the UInt8Array prototype.

July 26, 2026 - There are many forms of Buffer.from(). The one that we're interested in right now is when the given argument is a string: ... Being able to directly interface with buffers in Node in terms of strings is a feature that's not currently enjoyed by browsers. JavaScript in the browser comes with other, separate APIs to deal with strings when they ought to be converted into buffer data and vice versa.

Buffers in Node.js
March 27, 2024 - Unlike arrays that you might be used to in other programming languages, buffers in Node.js deal with raw memory allocation outside the V8 JavaScript engine. Non-Programmer Explanation: Imagine you are watching a video on streaming service, and that video is like a “packet” of data that arrives at different speeds depending on your internet connection. Now, to make sure you can watch the video smoothly without interruption, all that incoming video data is first stored in a “buffer”, sort of like a waiting room.

Buffers in Node.js, How to Use Buffers?
January 5, 2024 - A simple analogy for a buffer is when you are watching a video on YouTube and there are two red and white lines. When the white line is longer, it means the browser is loading data faster than it is being watched, and the browser will store that data in a buffer. A Buffer can be created using Buffer.from(), Buffer.alloc(), or Buffer.allocUnsafe():

Buffers in Node.js - DEV Community
December 14, 2023 - "Since JavaScript traditionally had no mechanism for reading or manipulating streams of binary data, buffers were introduced in Node.js to fill this gap." but JavaScript has ArrayBuffer and to manipulate ArrayBuffer we have DataView and TypesArray. also Nodejs Buffer is build on top of TypedArray (Uint8Array).
