It's hit or miss as to whether or not you get white noise with Bose ANC models. The white noise is a common thing with Bose ANC, but my wife and I both have the QC Ultras with no static or white noise for either of us. You'll get totally different answers and experiences from different users, so my advice is to buy a new pair of either the QC or QC Ultra and try them. Answer from incremantalg on reddit.com

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to headphones/ANC and I’m overwhelmed on what to get. I have severe noise sensitivity (hyperacusis) and I’m scared to wear headphones bc I’ve heard they emit white noise. I have to at this point since earbuds and Peltors hurt from overuse.

Are there any Bose models that don’t hiss (or are quieter than others)? I’ve been recommended the qc45, but I’m not sure how to purchase since they seem to be discontinued. I see they have refurbished ones through Bose but I’m hesitant.

I’ll also be wearing them most of the day and possibly sleeping in them, so comfort is something I hope to find as well.

My biggest worry with Bose is the ear cup size. I've been using my QC25 with the Dekoni pads because the stock ones are too small. The QC35 my sibling has isn't any better. What did you think of the fit? How is it if you move your head around? Do you wear glasses? More on reddit.com

My opinion on every ANC headphone I've owned or tried. 10 headphones compared.

Some interesting anecdote: Manufacturing for the QC35 began in 2016 and ended in 2022. Up until May 2020 all units were made in China. Beginning from June 2020 units were being produced in both China and Thailand. The easiest way to tell is by checking the serial number. Units made in China has Z as its 7th digit, Thiland is T. The 8th digit represent the year of manufacture and the 9th, 10th, 11th digit are date code. Say a unit has SN xxxxxxT0353xxxxxx. This means the unit is made in Thiland at the tail end of 2020. During its 6 years of production BOSE has also made 2 revisions to the packaging of QC35II. The old packaging shows the headphone with its ON/OFF switch facing you. Somewhere in 2019 they changed the packaging to show the headphone from a side angle, on the bottom right corner there's also the BOSE AR logo. In June 2020 BOSE gave up the whole AR shtick and with that also dropped the BOSE AR logo on the packaging. All these changes are done only on the front packaging though, on the back nothing has changed throughout the entire production. What's even more interesting is that the first iteration of QC35 is still being made in 2020 and possibly 2021. The other day I came across a unit on eBay made in Thiland in October 2020. Don't know why BOSE is still making them in 2020 when QC35II has officially replaced them since 2017. Another fun anecdote: BOSE seems to have shifted most of its over-ear headphone production to Thailand nowadays. The last over-ear headphones to be made in China are the NC700s. QC45s are made in Thailand, and so are the latest QC and QC Ultra over-ear. It's possible that BOSE shifted some of its QC35 production to Thailand in 2020 to prepare for the production of QC45, which would arrive a year later. Meanwhile they continue to manufacture all in-ear and on-ear models in China to this day. To add to a point I made earlier, headphones made in china has either Z (over-ear models) or M (in-ear models, or gaming variants like the QC35 II gaming headset) as its 7th digit. Thailand only has T as far as I'm aware. More on reddit.com
