Resan Till Melonia (The Journey to Melonia). Last one is Swedish and honestly one of the best animated movies ever made, but I don't know if it's available with dub or subs anywhere. Just thought I'd throw it in anyway. Triplettes de Belleville is French but if I remember correctly there's like 2-3 spoken sentences in the entire film so you don't need subs or a dub to enjoy it. Alright…this is going to be a wacky post.
So my girlfriend (27) grew up in a house where they didn’t watch many movies or TV and as a result she didn’t watch many when she got to college. She watched Disney movies but never really liked them, she said. I am a maaaaaajor movie fan and she’s been watching movies with me and has been really enjoying herself with the ones we’ve been watching.
Last night we turned on a movie to watch as we fell asleep and I chose Turbo (2013) and uh…I don’t know wtf happened but she stayed up to watch the whole thing and today was raving about how great it was…I’m kind of in disbelief how she loved that far more than any of the many Villeneuve or Inaritu movies we watched in the last month. Today we watched Kung Fu Panda and then watched 2 right after (which she says is her new favorite movie), and we’re going to watch 3 as soon as she gets home from work tomorrow.
What are some other movies in these like she would like? Dreamworks or no, I’m open to anything that isn’t Disney she may like based on the above.
(ps while I do poke fun at her for the movies she likes, I don’t wanna put her down for her taste in movies so please don’t be mean in the comments. I actually find it pretty endearing how the movies she loves are the ones not many other people do, haha)

I’ve been watching animated movies with my niece and nephew, and I wanna watch more non Disney animated movies on my own. I watched the Kung Fu Panda trilogy, Prince of Egypt, Ice Age, and Wallace and Gromit last week and then watched The Angry Birds Movie this morning (yeah it’s a bad movie but I love watching movies even if they’re not good so that’s ok with me).
Any suggestions? :)

Can't go wrong with most of what Studio Ghiblis put out, and they've got at least 5 that would be considered essential viewing for fans of animation. Studio Laika puts out pretty good stuff. Paranorman, Kubo and Coraline are all a fun time with a very unique visual style. That TMNT movie from last year was a blast, probably my favorite portrayal of the turtles outside of comic books, killer soundtrack and if you like the Spiderverse movies you'll love the way it looks. I haven't personally seen Nimona or the most recent Puss in Boots but I've heard nothing but praise for both.

Since I am much more familiar with Western Animation (and the Anime fans keep insisting they are a separate medium anyway) I am just focusing on Western Animation).
