Bought my first ever gaming laptop and did not realise how bad the thermals were.
It’s a ASU’s Tuf F17 (17.3inch) Intel i7 12700h with rtx 3070. Even playing non triple A games makes this thing really hot with low to medium settings. Always 85 degrees Celsius or up. Is this common? Currently it’s winter here and still it’s like gaming laptop is on fire on the top part.

Hey guys, I'm checking out a Helios Neo 16 i7 14-700Hx gaming laptop, with a 4070 and 16GB of RAM, but I'm finding it's running way too hot!
It's running the latest AAA games with the GPU at 72-78°C and CPU at 75-85°C, and the GPU at 45°C and CPU at 55-60°C when idle.
Is that too hot? Could it cause damage in the long run? I'm thinking about going back to the 4060, which delivers a bit less performance, but rarely goes above 80°C for the CPU and 75°C for the GPU.
What is a normal temperature for a CPU and what sorts of things can I do to keep it cool? I have seen it go as high as 97 degrees C. Water boils at 100.
Hey @xarzu what kind if device do you have and what programs do you run? I know that an average PC is within 40-60 degree C when in regular use but can go up 80 if running extensive programs.
