I made a program to automatically generate NuclearCraft fission reactors. It uses Evolution algorithms to let only the fittest reactors survive. Here are the best designs I made using it:

Here is \"The Furious\" making 253 680 RF/t from LEU-235 Oxide.
Edit: Leu-235.com exists and it is faster and allows for more fuel and cooler customization. Mine allows more control over the priorities. Where leu-235 allows you to prioritize power or efficiency, my generator allows you to strike a balance.

Yea that leu235 is cool because it lets you load up the E2E config specifically for that pack. Also let's you pick for efficiency or designs for "breeding" fuels.

June 2, 2019 - A few things I did not mention in that video are that turbines will be cheaper than they are now, all of the 'fluid-manipulating' multiblocks (heat exchanger, turbine, etc.) will not have to be as big for the same throughput, and there will actually be a lower tier of fission reactor below the solid-fuel type which will produce RF directly, the pebble-bed. So if you just want to set up a reactor that doesn't produce steam, then that will be the new option ;) When I design NC, I'm really not thinking much about how it will be used, where it will sit in a pack's 'progression' arc, or whatever, because that fluctuates rather wildly depending on the content of the pack, the various config choices, and everything else.

Overhaul SFRs are built with a cuboidal casing. The edges must be Reactor Casings, but the faces an also be made with Reactor Glass. The fission controller can be placed within any face of the reactor casing.

I’m trying to create a nuclear craft fission reactor and I was wondering how you all design yours. That website is one of a few reactor design 'generators' that have been written. It isn't a 'planner' where you can design your own, but instead a pseudo-random design finder :)

The nuclearcraft YouTube channel has a video on how to use the hellrage reactor planner. The video is well made and fairly detailed, so I would recommend watching that. I should note that video is for the overhaul version of nuclearcraft

You can use the reactor planner app, which is in the nuclearcraft discord page. Assuming E2 didn't change any of the values for the fuel or heat stuff.

This is the best I could do for 3x3x3 passively cooled and high efficiency, at least that can run constantly without overheating. If you wanted to build a redstone on off, just replace the air block and the lapis cooler with more moderators. https://gist.github.com/MuteTiefling/199efd6fbd3d7b77857fc16008c8dd2b Pretty cheap to build, although you'll need some platinum and ender pearls for the enderium coolers. You'll find platinum occasionally near bedrock though. Get a scanner to help you out. This'll do about 10k rf/t, which is quite respectable early game power.
