Is there a way to contain environmental radiation? I know you can have personal resistance and PPE but I'm starting to see why NC radiation system was disabled by default:
TL;DR: I have irradiated the chunks surrounding my reactor and all my wildlife died...
Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious here. I haven't delved into Nuclearcraft's specific reactor setups - I went with Extreme Reactors for familiarity and simplicity. I did enable NC radiation system, and made all the NC and IC2 PPE since you seem to need both sets if you want to work with both mods. I made an IC2 reactor for enriching plutonium and everything including the thermal centrifuge is in a containment building constructed out of reinforced stone (IC2). Well I might have well built it out of paper for all the good that did me. Geiger counter is reading radiation levels of 1-3 mRads/t depending on how close you are to the 'containment' building. All my wild life in nearby chunks are dead or dying. The cows directly above the (underground) containment were the first to go. Maybe I should have looked more in to NC but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. JEI search for containment is not helping.
Edit: 1-3 mRads/t (being generated from an IC2 single-chamber reactor with 6 single-enriched uranium fuel rods.)
You don't contain it in the sense that there's no block that prevents its spread passively.
What you need are radiation scrubbers. These actively work to reduce radiation in their chunk. Radiation also tends to spread out and attempts to reach an equilibrium point. So by scrubbing radiation at a central point you'll slowly clean a larger area.
Scrubbers work best when they are in an open area (lots of air blocks) and when they're spread out. Pack in too many and they'll start to interfere with one another.
You could also cheese it by containing it inside of a compact machine. The inside will get irradiated to hell but your base will be fine.
In E2E it is ridiculous how bad the NC radiation aspect is dealt with or even (not) mentioned. Even in packs that were considered "a challenge" like Eternal, there was solid communication about how to get rid of, check on, and deal with NC's radiation.
To make things even worse, we also have IC2, which "intrudeuces" its own radiation package to the mix. It's like throwing gas on a roaring bonfire. And the only salvation is compact machines or relying on alternate dimensions both which are often disabled on multiplayer servers!!!!!! Argh!!!!!!!!!
