Was always wondering in theory what happens, like say dasher gets the order , starts driving, and just has the munchies and chows down on the meal, and cancels the order or something and moves onto the next order.
Does the company know or catch people doing this? What happens?

There is a few different ways how a Dasher could steal your food, but once the Dasher has picked up the order, not delivering it would be a contract violation and after a few of those the Dasher would get deactivated, i.e. banned from the platform. If the Dasher wanted to be smart, they could drive to the drop-off address and mark the order as completed (it is tracked by GPS) but not actually deliver the food. Next level version of that is to deliver the food to the door, mark it as delivered in the app and take a picture, then take the food back - in which case they technically did deliver the food but immediately stole it again. Finally, the Dasher could just steal the food from the restaurant after pickup, by simply not marking the food as picked up and then un-assigning from the order. But doing that too often could also result in a ban.

Do it enough times they will get deactivated. That’s it. Doordasb isnt going to take legal action over a driver stealing some food. Not worth it. Maybe if it was a 1k iPhone, but not McDonald’s.
