I’m really struggling with the numbers..
Yes, just memorize them. People get all weird about the fact that, in the French spoken in France, 70, 80, and 90 is made in a way that seems strange to a lot of learners. But just learn those numbers by heart, and you'll be fine. More on reddit.com

Numbers 70-99… What am I looking at
It's a remnant of the vigesimal system, where numbers went by twenties instead of tens. Although it can be surprising for people who do not expect it, it's not really a big obstacle if you already know how to count to 20. Even though the name of the number 90 is literally translated to four-twenties-ten, it still actually means the same thing as ninety in English. Various equivalents are used in various francophone countries. For example septante instead of soixante-dix in Belgium and Switzerland, etc. It's a good thing to know about them because they do exist, but you also still have to learn the vigesimal ones, because they are the most common ones. Just swap vingt for one of these numbers instead: ... Things get a little curlier when you reach 70, where instead of having a word for "70" in itself, you instead say "sixty-ten", as in "sixty plus ten". ... And then when you want to say "seventy one" you actually say "sixty eleven", and so on up to 79. ... A little bit strange, right? It gets even stranger. When you get to eighty, instead of having a word for eighty there's a further bit of math involved. French speakers will say quatre-vingts — "four twenties".

This would be more logical if you take a step back and look at how 40, 50 and 60 are written. But French will always be French and if there are no complications in the language… it’s not real French! Afterwards, let’s move on to the hundreds. It’s very similar to the English way of counting hundreds. Take a look at this table: ... Let’s take 152 as an example: cent-cinquante-deux. February 7, 2018 - When giving a telephone number, for example, the French usually do so in two’s. In other words, a French phone number would be written like this: 11.55.63.92 and they would say it like this: onze … cinquante-cinq…soixante-trois…quatre-vingt-douze. When talking about money, the French would usually say soixante douze euros et vingt centimes (72,20€).

Once you feel confident with the numbers 1 to 20 in French, it’s time to move on the more complex French numbers. As you can see, each set of 10 French numbers 20 to 69 follow a similar rule. For example, all of the whole numbers (20/30/40/50/60) are independent numbers.
