This nwjs program appears to share a name with Nwjs.exe which is a Trojan virus, however as far as I can tell from my (admittedly limited) information these two programs are not the same. I cannot find definitive information as to whether or not this is a harmful program, however, and I have found even less information on how to safely remove it.
From what I have gathered this nwjs I am dealing with is just a javascript tool or something like that and it's ultimately harmless apart from the mental damage I get every time I see a new ad pop up. I have no idea how this got on my system, it's been on here for a good month at least I'd say.
The ad I have been getting spammed withBought myself a new computer and transferred some of my videos across by usb but they would not play so bring the novice computer person am thought maybe the codecs were not up to date so I downloaded a codec pack.
I am guessing it must have had some sought of virus since now while surfing the internet I get random popups. Go to task manager and see that nwjs is running however when I click end task it disappears only to reappear when I start browsing again.

There’s this “nwjs” folder in appdata/local which I have no idea where it came from. The only thing inside is “User Data” and inside that folder there are “crashpadmetrics.pma” and “crashpadmetrics-active.pma”
There’s nothing else inside of it. I’m guessing it’s just to send info about crashes for whatever program put it in my Pc.
There are no .exe inside of it, and there are no processes running under the name “nwjs”
I don’t use chrome btw (I read chrome adds something similar) I use Opera only. I also saw somewhere that nwjs can be addware, however there have been 0 signs of addware in my pc. Windows defender also didn’t notice anything weird in those files.
So, should I be worried or is it just something normal??
Edit: the exact path is user/appdata/local/nwjs
Hi, yesterday I noticed weird performance issues on my PC but didn’t think anything of it until today when I noticed NWJS running on task manager having never installed it. I deleted the folder it was in in safe mode and reset my windows pin/password. Should I be good?
i downloaded something i don’t remember what, and ending up getting some malware called nwjs that opens up fake mcafee ads on my computer. anybody know how to help?
Don’t know what this is 100% but pretty sure its the virus. Tried using Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro along with resetting my google chrome. After doing all that it disappeared but when I restarted my pc it came back. Noticed it once my google chrome randomly shut itself down and restarted with bing as the search engine. I’m really worried and would appreciate some help quick!
I bought a new computer and was downloading various apps after a while when I check my task manager I found a program called nwjs running and soaking up quite a bit of ram. Is this a virus? Should I be concerned because I did end the task when but I tried to delete it, it didn't get removed.
Got up this morning, went to the mac, and there on the screen was a 'nw.js' splash screen. It was a running application - had a menu bar with a quit function, but I've never heard of this or knowingly installed it. I immediately quit out of the app, and looked around in Activity Monitor for any suspicious looking processes running. The only thing running at the time was Vuze, Thunderbird, and Chrome. Scanning through the console logs I saw that Chrome executed a software update around 5:30 am, but I'd be surprised if Google suddenly decided to start bundling node.js with their browser. There was a software update from Apple pending, so I ran that, and I can't see anything else suspicious in my console logs other than the usual shenanigans that surrounds an Apple software update. Still, most disturbing that there was software suddenly running on my machine that I didn't elect to install. Doing a 'locate nw.js' in the terminal turned up nothing either.
Any ideas wtf this was?
I was in ending my free trail of McAfee and some how managed to get malware that tells me to extend my McAfee subscription randomly. I opened task manager and saw it was something labeled nwjs. Y'all know a good way to get rid of it?
I downloaded popcorn time from this website,https://popcorntime.app/. However, when I run the program and go to task manager it says nwjs (32 bit), looking online it says that the program is adware/malware. This website, https://www.file.net/process/popcorn%20time.exe.html#:~:text=Popcorn%20Time.exe%20is%20able,security%20rating%20is%2051%25%20dangerous.&text=Important%3A%20Some%20malware%20camouflages%20itself,C%3A%5CWindows%5CSystem32%20folder. , says that popcorn time is a keylogger and that the program is named popcorn time.exe. but in my files it says popcorn-time.exe. I'm not sure whether it is a virus or not but my virus protector says it's okay.
