r/CUNY on Reddit: NURSING PROGRAMS IN NYC!!!
December 6, 2023 -
Hey guys! I'm currently a Medical Assistant looking to become an RN. I'm looking for a college in NYC which I understand is very competitive. If anyone has any schools they'd recommend that would be great**! I've been told about Monroe College, Swedish Institute, LaGuardia, And Mount Sinai school for nursing. Any recommendations upon those schools mentioned?**

Hiya. Stay away from “for-profit” institutions if you want to avoid heavy debt. Outside of CUNY, I can comfortably recommend St Francis College in Brooklyn. Their Nursing Program facilities are A1. Within CUNY, Hunter’s BSN is more intense and competitive (higher requirements, and more students). Lehman also offers a good BSN program, with less competition. If you’re ready to invest your all, go for a BSN. Otherwise, it won’t hurt to start with an Associates degree. I recommend LAGCC. An associates degree qualifies you to sit in for the NCLEX.

CUNY Programs especially the Associates programs are competitive and all have a wait list. CUNY Programs have little to no debt. If you're a MA at a hospital most have employee programs. BMCC has a program where you can get you Associates and then complete your Bachelors on-line at SPS.
