I just replaced the mainboard and CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 5800X) in my desktop PC after the previous hardware overheated. By the time I realized what was wrong with the equipment, it was too late. The Corsair cooling system had failed (even tho it appeared to be working from the outside). When I finally checked the CPU temp reading in the BIOS, it was 113.
The salesman at the store suggested that being one who hates noise, I might like the NZXT Kraken 53 cooling system.
I put it all together and it appears to be working, but there is this particular problem.
I plugged the pump and radiator fans into the CPU_FAN and OPT_FAN headers, respectively. When I turn on my PC and go into the BIOS settings, it says that the CPU temp is 56 and when I select the "silent" setting, the fans slow down so that the system is very quiet.
However, once Windows 10 starts, the fans immediately speed up even though the profile selected in CAM is "silent". Furthermore, CAM reports that the CPU temperature is now 91. Rebooting, I see that the BIOS screen still says 56. Regardless of the settings in CAM, the cooling system is running loud.
What could be going wrong? Why is the CPU temp reported completely different in the BIOS and in CAM and why are the fans running at such a loud speed in Windows 10, even when I'm just browsing the web?
Edit: I tried swapping the NZXT cooler for a Corsair cooler. The Corsair runs a little bit louder with the newer, hotter processor. I was able to exchange the NZXT cooler at the retailer where I purchased it. They told me that it shouldn't make noise fluctuations like what I described and recorded the reason for the exchange being "defective pump". I purchased and started playing Horizon Zero Dawn the other day and everything works perfectly, so it looks like my computer woes are over.

Hello. So I’m running the Kraken Elite 360mm with my 14900k and when comparing temps with HWMonitor and the Cam software, Cam seems to be reading the e core temp and not the package temp. Is there a fix for this? Anyone else running LGA 1700 Intel also see this happening?
Hello
2Days ago i updated my NZXT CAM since then my CPU TEMP Reading is completely wrong it shows that in the Idle mode my CPU is at 50-60 Degrees Celsius. After reading the temps with MSI Afterburner it show that my CPU is only at 30-42 Degrees. How can i Fix that so my Cooling System isnt using unnecessery power.
Hi guys, so I just updated my NZXT CAM software to a newer version. Now I need to mention that the previous version had the same thing but now it is more extreme.
Problem:
The CAM software measures my CPU weirdly, the temperature keeps spiking to about 55C while idle and then slowly goes to 42 degrees and then instantly spikes to about 55C again. Sometimes even higher. It keeps repeating this over and over again, which causes my x72 kraken to spin up heavily to compensate the "high" temps.
To check temps, I downloaded AMD Ryzen Master, this program measures CPU temps while idle between 41C and 43C which is decent but NZXT CAM keeps spiking regardless. I don't think that NZXT CAM is actually right, the air blowing through is cold and have no reason to think it is constantly spiking.
Have tried reinstalling the software, but keep getting the same pattern. And I had the same with the older CAM software but less extreme and it didn't make the x72 spin up this much. This all happens with the CPU under a 2% load so quite confused as to why this is happening.
Dear people, and nxzt.
I have a question, I am using CAM and a kraken elite 360.
Also, i have hwmonitor/hwinfo and lconnect3 and corsair. A lot of programs that messure temps.
Why is it that nzxt CPU temps are lower than all the other temps that are the same. It seems that my cam software is spotting a different sensor than all the other programs that also read temp.
Why is the package temp of CPU not the temp in cam? And also my question for NZXT, will you update or expand possibilities to see the correct temps on the cooler?
I have been asking myself this question for a while now.
Thanks
Whenever I use CAM the temperature readings fluctuate a lot. I have even opened my ASUS ai suite 3 app and the cpu temp on that app was stable around 60C when CAM would be jumping from 55-65C.
Is there any accurate software I can use that is trustworthy? My AIO is getting old and I am not sure if it actually getting hotter than it should getting.
