Object Methods in Javascript
The main drawback to this exact syntax is that if you have multiple objects, method is going to be redefined, and take up extra memory, for each one. More on reddit.com

Where did an idea that "everything is an object in JS" come from?
If you do typeof on basically anything in javascript it's "object". typeof new Map() ? that's an "object" typeof new Array() or []? that too! typeof null ? okay, so you're not going to believe this, but... Object is basically the underlying nuts'n'bolts of everything in javascript - no complaints from me, though! It's hella handy! More on reddit.com

Stuck in a wall... How do I store object methods in localStorage?
Don't try to serialise functions - you're going about this the wrong way. Make an "Item" class with a constructor, that takes a data object as an argument. The constructor should set things on 'this'. Give it a 'serialise' method also, that returns an object. Use serialise to store state in localstorage. When loading from localstorage, create new Item instances. More on reddit.com

Object methods, "this"
If you come from another programming language, then you are probably used to the idea of a โ€œbound thisโ€, where methods defined in an object always have this referencing that object. In JavaScript this is โ€œfreeโ€, its value is evaluated at call-time and does not depend on where the method ...

For instance, consider the following scenario: we have an object that represents a person's basic information, such as their name and age. We can use the Object.assign() method to merge these two objects into a single object that contains all of their information.
