Games never push your GPU to the same degree OCCT would, but you could still encounter instability issues from time to time. Loads are very different between games - while it would run fine in 9/10 games, the tenth game it starts to crash constantly. More on reddit.com

If the pc is working as you need it and your not overclocking right now, its not required or anything. If there is any instability occt will find it. So if you just wanna put the new parts through the gauntlet theres not much harm in it. Might highlight a problem that could be an issue later, and at least you'll be aware of it. More on reddit.com

I thought I was doing good with my OC relying on Prime95 (I would look for errors after an hour), but out of curiosity (I'm new to this BTW) I launched the OCCT stability test and my setup didn't last several seconds without errors. So I don't know but to me it looks OCCT is among the most objectively sensitive to computational errors out there. My example is 8600k I was trying to push to 5GHz with. Cinebench, Prime didn't show any problems to me, I thought I was doing fine, but OCCT wrecked it. I went back to the stock clock and climbed up again but this time testing stability with OCCT and turns out I was not even able to get to stable 5GHz with the voltage I'm comfortable with... I stopped trying at 1.450V. Ultimately I went down to 1.350V which so far gives me a stable 4.8GHz in OCCT (by which I mean 1 hour "CPU" test and 1 hour "Linpack" test without errors).
