I have the EasyWring O-Cedar mop, the one with the all white head. When I first got it, it was great. After I used it once or twice I went to wash the head in the washing machine. After putting it back on it started to fall off from the water weight making it too heavy. This would happen when I dipped it/before I had the chance to spin the water out.
I bought a second head and it worked fine. I let my mom borrow it because she wanted something after changing kitchen floors. She also used it without any issues. I washed the second head and now I have the same issue with the mop head falling off every time I go to dip it in the water.
Am I doing something wrong how I’m re-attaching the head or is there a way it needs to be lined up? Is there any chance the base of the mop is defective? The base is a triangle so even if only 1/3 ways fit I should have lucked into that with how many times this has happened. It’s frustrating because it’s a good mop, but I hate having to stick my hands in hot/dirty water 15 times every time I want to clean my apartment.
What do you guys use to clean the mop head itself?
I've been reading everyone's rave reviews of o-cedar's spin mop system, and while I'm excited to purchase it or something similar, I'm a little concerned about the environmental footprint of the microfiber mop heads that fit the o-cedar mop. And when I googled for more information, it seems like a cotton mop head isn't as efficient or effective of a cleaning material as microfiber, and it could also leave streaks/loose material behind.
My two questions are:
-
Is there a highly appreciated spin mop system that uses non-plastic mop head materials I could look into?
-
If not, what are people who are similarly worried doing? I've seen some posts about people putting cotton cloths on swiffer handles - is that basically the best option?
Thank you in advance!
