r/Cinema4D on Reddit: Octane Renderer Prices - Urgent Please
May 27, 2019 -

So I was just about to buy the plugin after I tried the Demo. I found that there is a standalone license and a subscription one.

The subscription is about $240 while the others are above $500. What is the big difference other than that the subscription can have 2 GPU's maximum?

I read that the standalone license supports After Effects. So if I get the subscription, will I not be able to move my C4D file with Octane to AE?

People obviously pay the above $500 for a reason, I just want someone to make it clear for me please.

Thank you all

Since our network is 90% of the 800 OctaneBench, it would be 10% faster to render it on the cloud (minus upload and download times), but wouldnt really help us in a pinch. If we could scale that up on one frame and our client needs it "now" we could put some of that cost on them and get them ... More on render.otoy.com

coilbook wrote:so basically 6 x 980 TI cards to render for one hour will cost you 10 dollars, That's too expensive and you do not get that many cards. I would pay this much per hour if I was given like 200 GPUs where you can see fast results like 5 seconds per frame.

April 28, 2023 - Octane is an excellent choice for rendering and shading your 3D projects, but if you are looking for a cost-effective alternative, you can export your project in the Alembic file format and then use Blender Cycles to render and shade it.
