Honestly just apply for anything that you're interested in / matches your skillset; there's not really a list of "recommended" opportunities. Internship hunting is a statistics game, so the more places you apply for (not low effort shit, actually tailor your resume, go to career fairs, connect with recruiters, etc.) the higher your chances are for getting something. I'm using ("intern" OR "internship" OR "co-op") AND "software" AND "summer" AND "2025" If you're interested in research, you can look into NSF REUs . They pay you to research over a summer like a PhD student. I got a paper published through this program. They're usually less competitive than company internships, but again, it's research focused. If there's a company that is working with your department, DEFINITELY get close to them. I'm at UTEP, and Bloomberg and Google are hiring quite a bit from the student body that participates in their events. This is a very reliable way to get your foot into the bigger companies.
