I do not think your needs could be achieved.

As Office ProPlus 2016 belongs to Office with MSI technology, but ODT (Office Deployment Tool) is apply to Office with C2R technology, such as Microsoft 365, Office 2019, the retail versions of Office 2013 and Office 2016.

There is no Product ID for Office ProPlus 2016 in "List of Product IDs which are supported by the Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run".

To deploy volume licensed Office 2016 and 2013, we could use OCT (Office Customization Tool) to customize MSI-based Office.

More detailed information, please checkout "Customize installations of Office 2013".

This is another one of my how-to’s that has been long in the making. After Office 2013 came out and “click to run” installations were introduced to the world, most admins never had to worry because the 2013 installer was a GUI and easily navigated with a mouse. More on community.spiceworks.com

Why would a sysadmin be installing office 2016 on a windows 7 machine? Isn't that long past EOL? If anything, get it virtualized and completely separated with no internet access More on reddit.com

Office 2016 deployment tool - how can I get a standalone office installer onto our shared drive for deployment?

setup.exe /download configuration.xml will download the source files. Then to deploy, configure your xml and then setup.exe /configure configuration.xml to run the installation.

Office 2016 Deployment tool isn't excluding the apps I tell it to?
Couple of glaring issues are you have some quotes in a different encoding. You also aren't specifying the install package correctly. I would suggest you use this tool to build your config XML. Link: https://config.office.com/deploymentsettings More on reddit.com

August 20, 2022 -

Hi folks, can you help me figure out what's wrong with my configuration.xml?

I extracted my Office 2016 Professional Plus ISO to C:\ProPlusRetail.

And it installs EVERYTHING. It does not skip any of my "excludes" shown below.

<Configuration>
  <Add OfficeClientEdition="32" Channel="Current" SourcePath="C\ProPlusRetail">
    <Product ID="ProPlusRetail" >
        <Language ID="en-us" />

        <ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="Outlook" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="Teams" />
	<ExcludeApp ID=“Groove“ />
	<ExcludeApp ID="Teams" />
	<ExcludeApp ID=“InfoPath“ />
        <ExcludeApp ID=“OneDrive“ />

    </Product>
  </Add>
</Configuration>
