How to install only word,excel,powerpoint, not include outlook in office 2021 ltsc version? Thanks.
Use the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) to customize the installation.
A: Download the Office Deployment Tool
- Download the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) from Microsoft's official site: Office Deployment Tool.
- Run the downloaded executable to extract the files (e.g., to
C:\ODT).
B: Create a Configuration File
- Open a text editor like Notepad.
- Copy and paste the following configuration: xmlCopy code
- OfficeClientEdition: Use "64" for 64-bit or "32" for 32-bit installations. ****************
- Channel: Use "PerpetualVL2021" for the LTSC version.
- ExcludeApp: Add
to prevent Outlook from installing.
Add other apps here (e.g.,) if needed.
- Save the file as
configuration.xmlin the same folder where you extracted the ODT.
C: Run the Office Deployment Tool
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Navigate to the folder where the ODT files are located (e.g.,
cd C:\ODT). - Run the following command to start the installation: cmdCopy codesetup.exe /configure configuration.xml
D: Verify Installation
- Once the installation is complete, open any of the installed apps (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) to ensure they are working.
- Outlook should not appear in the list of installed applications.
Optional: Remove Preinstalled Office Applications
If any unnecessary Office apps (like Outlook) were installed previously:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Select the specific app and uninstall it manually.
This method ensures a clean and precise installation of only the desired Office components.

Hello everyone. At our organization we are swapping from on premise exhange to office 365. I have put the installation files in a shared folder an used the deployment tool to call for setup /configure.xml file. I then use ESET endpoint to create a task to call a batch file to run the compand so i cam deply it attendant. My problem is that when the file runs it ask the user for admin credentials to proceed with the installation. Any help on how to add the admin credentials in the xml file so it doesn't pop up in every user? Thanks in advance.

Hi does anyone know where the download location is for the Office 365 media for use with ODT? I'm talking about the download option setup.exe /download downloadconfig.xml - I can use it locally on my laptop but I need the site opened up within the environment I'm working in, so if I can find out the URL(s) I can apply for it to be opened up.
EDIT: thanks guys for the pointers - need to examine and set up a config for our needs.
