May 3, 1999 - Agence France-Press reported that Mr. Reed fell ill in a bar in Valetta, Malta, accompanied by his wife, Josephine, and friends. The cause of death for Mr. Reed, who was pronounced dead before he reached the hospital, was not immediately known and an autopsy is scheduled for early this week.
