I have the Omen 17 with 13700HX+4080.
I use the Omen Hub for performance and fan settings, but it feels like it hogs the system more than it helps. Is there any alternatives to it in the Omen world, like the G-Helper for Asus and Legion Toolkit for Lenovo?
Also I've noticed that whatever performance mode you set in Omen Hub, i.e. Balanced, Performance etc. the Windows power mode always stays in "Balanced". Do we need to do something about this?

Omen Gaming Hub alternatives
I would not recommend uninstalling it as your system will be limited without it and the most recent update corrected the bug that had been causing issues recently. As for alternatives, I've heard a lot about OmenMon, but it's obviously not anything official

i've seen a lot of issues about the omen gaming hub and i just ordered the 16 2023 model so do you recommend uninstalling it as soon as i get my hands on the laptop or i should i keep it? if so, are there any better alternatives?

I haven't encountered the issue. So don't try to fix what's not broken.
Hey everyone! I wanted to share OmenCore, an open-source fan control and system management tool I've been developing for HP OMEN laptops.
What is OmenCore?
OmenCore is a lightweight, free alternative to HP's OMEN Gaming Hub. It gives you direct control over your laptop's fans, performance modes, keyboard lighting, and more - without the bloat, telemetry, or 500MB+ RAM usage.

Why I Built It
Like many of you, I was frustrated with OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Slow startup and high memory usage
- Features locked behind HP accounts
- Random fan behavior and no real custom curves
- Breaking after Windows updates
OmenCore talks directly to your laptop's WMI BIOS and EC - the same hardware interfaces OGH uses - but without the overhead.
What's New Since v1.5
v2.0 brought major features:
- ๐ง Linux support - Full CLI with fan control, thermals, and systemd daemon
- ๐ฎ Game Profiles - Auto-apply fan/performance settings when games launch
- ๐ On-Screen Display - Real-time FPS, temps, fan speeds overlay (RTSS integration)
- ๐ Battery Care - 80% charge limit that actually works
- โก GPU Power Boost - WMI-based TGP control for NVIDIA GPUs
- ๐งน Bloatware Optimizer - Safely disable HP services you don't need
v2.1 adds:
- ๐ Independent CPU/GPU Fan Curves - Separate curves responding to individual component temps
- ๐ง Linux GUI - Full Avalonia UI for Linux users
- โก GPU Overclocking - Core/memory offset via NVAPI (where supported)
- ๐ Ambient Lighting - Screen color sampling for RGB sync
- ๐ฎ Game Library - Scan Steam/Epic/GOG/Xbox games, create profiles directly
- ๐ Toast Notifications - Mode change feedback
- 13 bug fixes including settings persistence, hotkey issues, and fan preset defaults
Key Features
| Feature | OmenCore | OMEN Gaming Hub |
|---------|----------|-----------------|
| Custom Fan Curves | โ Visual editor | โ Presets only |
| Memory Usage | ~50MB | ~500MB+ |
| Startup Time | <3 sec | 10-30 sec |

Last year on reddit someone suggested omenmon as an alternative to gaming hub to me, i have never used gaming hub after that,
What do you think is a better option, i always found gaming hub to be resource hog in the background, especially bad if you are on laptop, it reduces battery quite a lot in my experience, whenever system is idle gaming hub is almost all the time on top in resource usage.
What are your thoughts?
Edit : added the app link for anyone who's interested
Hey guys, I have a HP gaming Omens PC 40L and I noticed that whenever I play games, the gaming hub always runs in the background taking about 370mb of memory. The thing is do I need it to stay open? If not should I delete it and install another program that controls the fan and lights, if so, could you recommend me any programs?
Hey! I recently got an Omen Transcend 14-fb0007no. This is my work laptop (it's enrolled in Intune but I'm in IT, so it's cool). Is the Omen Gaming Hub app necessary to have the PC on "performance mode" on or even game with it and achieve high fps? Isnt it enough to put the Windows power settings in performance and it understand to use GPU instead of integrated
Feels like it Omen gaming hub app triggers UAC for system optimizer which is REALLY annoying and can't get rid of it and it also eats up lot of resources.
Anyone have som experience or input to this?
