I'm in the process of getting a HP Omen 16. My previous gaming laptop was an ASUS TUF and with ASUS we have Armoury Crate, which is a nightmare.
I know that Omen has the Gaming Hub, what about it? Keep or remove? Useful or not?
I always uninstall the Armoury Crate on my ASUS and I never really had to control the fans or RGB lightning of my keyboard, everything worked fine. So I'm wondering if it's the same for the Omen version so that it doesn't really have any impact on the overall performances.
TLDR - does the Game Optimizer and “Cleaner” ruin your gaming experience from the OMEN Gaming Hub? It does for me and after a reformat to test it kind of pinned it to it.

Long story long every once in a while my games would just start stuttering, my FPS are still high, but there’s this weird stutter I couldn’t ever figure out. I believe it’s called frame pacing. But I’m not 100% sure there.
I reformatted my computer supports recommendation, and sure enough everything smoothed out. Life went on and the problem returned. I didn’t know why and immediately thought it was throttling. Eliminated throttling as a problem and resigned myself to reformatting again. Smooth gameplay again after the reformat and then noticed Omen Hub asking me to do things and I clicked go ahead basically and bam, same issues. Stuttering and bad frame pacing.
Reformatted one more time again HP Omen Gaming Hub asked to do things and I turned it all off. No problems for weeks, then I manually run these tools and immediately got frame pacing issues. This weird stutter.
I’m gonna have to reformat again because I think it’s doing something in my registry or something that NVIDIA doesn’t like. That’s the only think I can think of. Is it happening to you all at all?

Hey! I recently got an Omen Transcend 14-fb0007no. This is my work laptop (it's enrolled in Intune but I'm in IT, so it's cool). Is the Omen Gaming Hub app necessary to have the PC on "performance mode" on or even game with it and achieve high fps? Isnt it enough to put the Windows power settings in performance and it understand to use GPU instead of integrated
Feels like it Omen gaming hub app triggers UAC for system optimizer which is REALLY annoying and can't get rid of it and it also eats up lot of resources.
Anyone have som experience or input to this?
Is this true or is gemini gaslighting me again?
Will uninstalling the HP Omen Gaming Hub cause any instabilities with the computer itself (HP Omen 45L)? I've heard some people say that the computer fans won't work without it, which is why I'm so nervous about it.
The HP Omen Gaming Hub has been nothing but a detriment to my PC's performance ever since I got my new PC (I'm on version 1101.2510.4.0). The OmenCommandCenterBackground executable is always using anywhere from 500MB to several gigabytes of my computer's RAM, and I'm frankly tired of it. I've been trying to solve this issue for weeks and haven't been able to find a single clear-cut answer for how to solve it. So unless anyone knows how to solve it, I'm basically just giving up. The only thing I've been using the Gaming Hub for is the lights, and at this point I just don't think its worth it for how much of a negative impact it's having on my PC's performance.
Will uninstalling the Gaming Hub even solve the OmenCommandCenterBackground memory issue, or is that something completely different?
I have Omen 25L and I checked out the menu, I can control fan speed and there is also "performance mode" but is it actually useful? Will I see better performance in games with fps? I haven't used such software before, only nvidia control panel
In my old laptop i never used these types of Applications that automatically alters your stuff, but reading around i noticdd people are saying that its really important. I just wanna know whats the benefits of the app
I hope HP employees will see this post; nonetheless, it will be sent to HP via email.
So, I have been using HP OMEN GAMING HUB since the day I got my laptop for the total of 3 months, and here is what made me question the sense and reason behind OMEN Gaming Hub development team:
-
The smoothness of the application. It is not smooth, but sluggish. It is one of the sluggiest OEM "Gamer" applications I have ever encountered. When I click on my laptop (to change perf settings) it lags and being frank it lags almost everywhere: gallery (which I usually don't use at all), light studio, Cam and Voice, overlays. Every move I do makes it either freeze or lag.
-
The resource usage, MSI afterburner uses 20 MB of RAM while providing more functionality than OMEN Gaming Hub which uses 700MB-1.2GB of RAM. Knowing how software development works, at this point you would be better off creating a new minimal version or better yet: partnering with OmenMon dev team and contributing to their open-source GitHub project.
-
The bloatware. I get it, it is an HP software, I have been to corporate world and the bar is not high. However, I value clean design that serves its purpose. I don't need gallery, why is it preinstalled? I don't need "Optimizer" why is it preinstalled, I don't trust you cleaning my PC files or tackling any software or Windows services settings. Furthermore, I don't need your "Deals" for games that you offer to buy from third-party websites.
-
The positioning. Extending on the bloatware, I'm concerned that the half-baked, jack of all trades application development cycle appeals to you:
-
If I need Deals, I will google them or go to Steam
-
If I need FPS overlay, I would go for MSI Afterburner or Steam or Nvidia/AMD overlays.
-
If I need Wallpapers, I would install Wallpaper Engine or download them from the web.
-
There is already Windows Gallery and Steam Gallery, is there a need for HP Omen Gallery?
-
-
If I need to see all my games, I won't go to "My Games", I would just add them to Steam, GOG Universe or even put all icons in the folder.
-
If I need cloud gaming, I won't use Omen Hub as a middle man to Geforce Now, I would just start Geforce Now app.
-
Small stuff:
-
Why key remapping shows me a keyboard with the Numpad if I don't even have it on my laptop? If you ought to have your take on customization, shouldn't it at least be tailored to the laptop?
-
Where is a useful tray icon? I want to toggle power mode and other settings via right-click, like in OmenMon.
Specs:
Laptop: HP Omen Transcend 14
OS: OEM Windows 11 Home
OS Version: 24H2
Omen Gaming Hub: 1101.2412.5.0
UPD: Grammar.
Do you have a new or older HP Victus/Omen device?
You have probably installed the HP Omen Gaming Hub (OGH) app along with HSA services and the Intel OC XTU service.
Unfortunately, HP developers made a fked up with the Power Plans delivered by OGH. In NORMAL mode, the CPU is always set to maximum speed, regardless of whether it is idle or not. This means the CPU clock speed is constantly at 100%, causing the cooling system to be noisy.
SILENCE mode forces a lower CPU speed by cutting off the Turbo clock speed.
Now, after removing OGH and deleting the extra Power Plans in Control Panel > Power Options, the system reverts to the default Balanced mode (system-based). The CPU clock speed finally behaves normally—adjusting to tasks and eliminating unnecessary noise.
Additionally, I disabled all the HP HSA services and Intel XTU, as they are not needed for normal system usage.
Results?
The system is quiet, speeds up when needed, and no longer suffers from the heavy OGH app with its memory leaks that consume significant RAM without warning. In short, why doesn’t HP release a clean, fast app without adware? It’s a shame. Unfortunately, Windows Update will force-install HSA services/extensions, but you can disable them via the registry by setting the value to 4.
A ready-to-use WinBatch script is available here: https://pastebin.com/raw/QfuFTf5D
After run the WinBatch script reboot system for apply changes. Feel free to discuss about your experience.
This started a few months back, OMEN Gaming Hub would literally just freeze as soon as I launch it and it'd also reset all my preferences. Like, all my RGB and fan settings would be reset. I literally had to make a new profile to switch to it every time it auto switches to default profile and resets it.
I don't even mind the default profile reset, but the freeze shortly after launch is killing me, and the app is very laggy and slow for no reason whatsoever. It's been like that shortly after Geforce Now integration. I feel like the app is just getting awful now.
Last year on reddit someone suggested omenmon as an alternative to gaming hub to me, i have never used gaming hub after that,
What do you think is a better option, i always found gaming hub to be resource hog in the background, especially bad if you are on laptop, it reduces battery quite a lot in my experience, whenever system is idle gaming hub is almost all the time on top in resource usage.
What are your thoughts?
Edit : added the app link for anyone who's interested
I recently got the ryzen 7 rx 4070, and it came with HP omen gaming hub.
-
I've heard mixed things about it, some saying it's corporate bloatware while others say it's useful. Is it worth keeping? I have it set to performance mode but not sure if it does anything.
-
Do I need the app open for it to work or will it automatically run in the background without me having to open the control panel?
Any insight about the app would be helpful as far as settings, etc. u did a fresh install of windows but reinstalled it
Omen gaming hub started eating all my memory it duplicates and use memory until the lap restart but I fixed it by clicking all and ending task tree for each one ,had like 50 I want to know why it did this
Suspect HP pushed a faulty update as many people experienced the same issue today.
I used an omen monitor but since had replaced it for years and had the app installed and it bricked my computer today despite not using the software at all. If you can manage to, uninstall the omen gaming hub until HP gets their act together. They are a massive company but today is a federal holiday so it may take a minute to fix a fatal error like this.
Many people have had this issue so your computer isn’t dying, don’t fret.
HP bloatware.
I have the Omen 17 with 13700HX+4080.
I use the Omen Hub for performance and fan settings, but it feels like it hogs the system more than it helps. Is there any alternatives to it in the Omen world, like the G-Helper for Asus and Legion Toolkit for Lenovo?
Also I've noticed that whatever performance mode you set in Omen Hub, i.e. Balanced, Performance etc. the Windows power mode always stays in "Balanced". Do we need to do something about this?
