After a lifetime of being a Windows user, I've decided to give the MacBook M4 Pro a shot. I've always been on the hunt for something powerful, light, with good battery life, and a quality build, and I'm hoping this might finally be it.
I’m curious to see how the 24GB of ram stack up as I am kind of a heavy user. And, admittedly, I'm tempted to throw a game on here just to see what it can do.
I'll be putting it through its paces over the next few weeks and seeing what apple silicon is all about 😎
What do you all think? Any suggestions for making a smoother transition?

I just got a 16 inch M4 Max with 40 core GPU and 48gb more for $3001 after tax. It was open box at Best Buy, certified excellent condition. I can say that there is zero difference between this a new machine. Has 3 battery cycles. I truly think that it was cheaper than other MacBooks at the same spec because it was the only one in silver I could find in a 150 mile radius. Moral of the story is to always check open box. They won’t all work out, but even new products don’t always work out. And remember to go through them in store as much as possible.

Bestbuy open box is basically brand new. They are perfect condition, I would go with the max. It’s a no brainer

depends on what you need it for but the m4 max open box is prob fine as long as it has the full warranty. the open box item has a lot of firepower. though the m4 pro is most likely "enough" i personally bought the 14 inch m4 pro w 24 gb door buster on saturday for 1599 via Bestbuy

For those of you following along, I was planning on taking all of your advice and making the 1.5 hour drive to go get this MacBook Pro because it was an amazing deal.
Unfortunately, today my dog, my best friend, was diagnosed with cancer. Though I don’t know all the details, I have no doubt it will be very expensive to help him.
I lost my grandfather on Christmas eve of 2024, and my dad 16 days later in 2025 to cancer. Losing a third important man in my life is not an option right now.
So unfortunately all spare money I have for the foreseeable future will be spent making sure he gets the best treatment I can afford.
I don’t know how the process works, but I’m sure once I cancel my order it will be re-added to their inventory.

Having paid $8K for cancer treatment for my dog. I'll never do it again. She was miserable. The extra time wasn't quality time for us. I think it affected the surviving dog as well. The way he'd sit there and look at her… He definitely knew that something was wrong with his best friend.
