Basically the post. I'm surprised at the number of people paying for plus and not using any of the features beyond basic LLM stuff. It's so easy to get an API key and $20 of heavy usage would probably still go far.

That said, I use it from the shell, and was wondering if anyone knows of particularly good web interfaces where you can just plug your API key in. Or alternatively, if there is a local app for Mac or Windows that would be more secure.

People seem confused about OpenAI's cost so here you go.

It's not 500 words, it's $5.00 worth of credit. They charge you $0.002 per 1000 characters. It's not by the word, it's by the 1000 characters used. (Punctuation, Letters, Spaces, Numbers).

(Example: "Hey.") That's 6 characters.

If you respond with

(Example: Eying a piece of merchandise, I carefully inspect it, running my fingers along its surface.

"Ah, a fine piece indeed. But I can't help but wonder, could you offer a better price for this exquisite item?") That's 206 characters. Everytime you hit 1000 characters, this includes your and the bots responses. They add $0.002 to your bill.

That's only a 5th of a cent, but each interaction with your bot can take from 200 - 1000 characters. Just be careful.

Hey guys - I know that there was (sometime ago) the possibility of getting your hands on some free credits for OpenAI api. I want to start working with n8n and I'm quite strapped for cash now.

I haven't seen any kind of new offers on the OpenAI chat and I was wondering if the promos are off the table or are available in some dark corner of the internet?
