I saw something that said if I make an account I’ll get some free credits to experiment with before I start paying and in the billing part it says free trial but I haven’t received any credits, after looking about some people said they may have discontinued it is this true?
I am new to this whole AI world and have luckily been given beta access. Just want to find out how much can be done with the $18 credit which comes to around 300000 tokens or +/-225000 words for Davinci.
Are you finding it sufficient for your needs or have you finished your credit before the expiration of your beta period.
Is Davinci really neccessary or can Curie accomplish similar results where Curie would also give me 10x the tokens.
Mine were gone in 2 Days. Now I have 25 $ monthly, that keeps me three days alife
The beta credits are generous imo unless you're doing really intensive testing on it.
If you're testing to develop a commercial use case, I'd try to work with Curie first and compare output and decide whether it's worth the extra cost.
I’ve just got a message opening Chat GPT Plus that I could invite 3 friends for a trial. Does anybody know how long this trial is?

So does this mean if I use a VPN I could possibly get a refund? I get that EU has legislative power, but why isn't this offered in the US? Crazy to me.
Little rant or maybe I'm missing something?
Why is the free api trial timebased?
Registered in December but never used the api.
Now for the first time I want to play around and the trial is over without using it even once.
Looks a little bit stupid to me. Why not usage based?
Ok, a serious question and a bit of a rant.
I’ve tried ChatGPT since December, at 1st I had silly conversations and tried to see how I can best use it to improve some areas of my life. Never really tried to Jailbreak it or use it for wacky things (not that's anything wrong with it). So far it has helped me draft some emails, write cover letters, design a somewhat decent workout program, brainstorm ideas for language learning and self-improvement, and lately, I’ve been using it to help me do things from work in much less time.
A couple of weeks ago I looked into my account and noticed that I’ve not used the free credit for the API so I started to explore different ways how I can use it. I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of creative things people use the API, and other models, training them to fit what use cases they want, etc. So far, I’m just halfway through the creation of a basic python assistant with OpenAI API integration.
In the past, I tried to learn how to program with some YouTube vids and TOP, but life got in the way (moving to another country). Now, I have a little bit more time to pick programming back, but I feel like I’ll never catch up with how fast, intense, and interesting all the new developments in AI and applications with LLM are coming up, week after week. It’s non-stop, it's here to stay, and I feel I'm falling behind from something really big and impactful. I just don't want to stay AI-illiterate, I guess.
So, if you had, say, 3 days or a week to spend all your free credit API, HOW would you do it? WHAT could you build in 1 or 2 days?
TLDR: find out free OpenAI API credit usage expires soon. What basic, interesting, and useful things you could use it for ASAP? Don’t want to miss this incredibly powerful tool. Thanks!
P.S. Not that I'm not willing to pay to use the API, I just want some ideas for basic, casual uses for my own interests.
I got the ChatGPT premium 2 month trial for students, and thought that it auto canceled, but I misread. I was charged $20 two days ago, and have now canceled the subscription for the future months, but I want to get my money back. Since OpenAI doesn't have a support system despite it being valued at $300 billion dollars, how can I get my money back?
OpenAI didn't even send me an email to the account I signed up with regarding the upcoming billing cycle... this seems fishy and I think is a shady business practice.
I don't remember creating my OpenAI account, but apparently I was given $18.00 in free credits that I was unaware of and didn't use, or barely used ($0.00 out of $18.00 used).
Now, I can't even try out a a single thing at your website.
Can you throw me a dollar so I can at least try your website out?
I thought about ugrading to paid membership, but why would I when I can't even try anything out once?
Maybe a small amount of trial credits that don't expire would help people trying your website out.
Hi everyone! A few minutes ago I was wondering how to find exactly how much you have left on your $5 free trial, and I just figured out how. If you login on the OpenAI website, click on the menu, and navigate to Account -> Usage, there is information on how much you have left on your trial.
Unsubscribed to ChatGPT for awhile and this popped up when I tried using it again.
A few days ago, I made a post here advising people not to cancel their subscription and to wait. However, I received many responses with different interpretations, and someone even criticized me for sharing half-baked or misleading information even after sharing the offical article. So, just to give solid correct response, I emailed official OpenAI Support and have now received an official response from a human support representative. I’m sharing it here so you can make your own decision.
TL;DR:
If you cancel or pause your ChatGPT Go subscription (via UPI, Google Play, or the web), your access ends after your current 30-day billing cycle not after the full 12 months. The 12-month free promo can’t be reactivated once cancelled, so keep your subscription active to enjoy the full year.
so if you want full year benefits Add a reminder in calendar to cancel a few days before your 12 months
official mail response :
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to OpenAI Support and for taking the time to ask about how the 12-month free ChatGPT Go promotion works in India. We completely understand how important it is to know exactly how cancellation might affect your access — especially when you’ve just joined as a first-time user.
We know promotions like this can sometimes be confusing, and you want to make sure you’re making the right decision before taking any action. We appreciate you double-checking the details to avoid losing your access early.
Here’s how it works for your 12-month free ChatGPT Go plan:
If you cancel or pause UPI autopay: Cancelling or pausing autopay after redeeming the offer will end your ChatGPT Go access at the end of your current 30-day billing cycle, not after the full 12 months. The promo can’t be redeemed again on the same account. To enjoy the full year, please keep your subscription active.
If you cancel via Google Play: The same applies — cancelling will end your access at the end of your current billing cycle, and the promotion cannot be reactivated on the same account.
In short, cancelling early, whether through UPI, Google Play, or the web, will end access after the current billing cycle — not the full 12-month promotion.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Please don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have any more questions — we’re happy to help ensure you get the most from your ChatGPT Go experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
