Hi fellow garden enthusiasts!
I'm new to ornamental grasses and recently moved into a house with a garden that has a few beautiful varieties of them. While I'm loving the way they add texture and movement to the space, I'm not exactly sure how to properly care for these plants. So, I'm hoping you all can help me out with a few questions:
-
Cutting Dead Grass: Is it necessary to cut back all the dead grass from the previous season, or can I leave some for added interest? If I do need to cut it, when is the best time to do so, and how much should I remove?
-
General Maintenance: What's the best way to take care of ornamental grasses throughout the year? Any tips on watering, fertilizing, or pruning to ensure they stay healthy and look their best?
-
Dividing and Transplanting: If any of the grass clumps have become too large or overcrowded, is it possible to divide and transplant them? If so, what's the best method and time of year to do this?
-
Any other tips: If you have any additional advice or resources for a newbie ornamental grass enthusiast, I'd greatly appreciate it!
I'm looking forward to learning from all of your expertise and experiences. Thank you in advance for your help and happy gardening!
