What's better, an Otterbox Defender case or an Otterbox Commuter case with a glass screen protector for any iPhone, because I feel that the Defender is too much?
[Discussion] Otterbox Commuter Impressions (sorry if it's been covered here)
I have the commuter case on my S8+. I had a similar case on my Nexus 6p but I think it was an off brand. I haven't had any issues, but haven't had any incidents to put it to a test either. $49.99 is pricey, but so is the phone is it protecting. Size and weight it is comparable to my N6P in it's case so I don't really notice a difference. I do like the feel of the phone in the case. Naked it really makes me paranoid about it slipping out of my hand and crashing to the floor.

iPhone 8 Plus owner here. Cases designed for the iPhone 7 Plus do *not* all fit as well on the iPhone 8 Plus, and I don’t know why Apple is allowing manufacturers to sell them and dual-fitting cases.

Example Not affiliated with otterbox, just using it as an example.
Here's what I like: The case looks great, I got it in black, you can't go wrong with black. You can still see the edges no problem. I've already dropped my phone once from about 4 ft onto brick floor and it handled it like a champ, the 2 tier case really absorbs the shocks when it comes to drops. The opening for camera, flash and fingerprint scanner seems to guide your finger into place on the scanner. This may be a general pro for any case though. Lastly, the rubber part to the 2 tier case really helps you keep a firm grip on the phone, it seems to appear in all the right places.
Here's what I don't like: The biggest issue here is price. $49.99 plus tax for the S8+ version. I'm pretty certain there's other similar options or knockoffs that'd perform just as well for a fraction of the cost. The next issue is the weight it adds. The phones a bit heavy to begin with, but adding the case seems just shy of doubling the total weight (I havnt actually weighed them on a scale). Lastly I did have one gripe about the looks and that is the otterbox logo itself, you can't really fault a company for adding their logo in, but it's a bit to big for my liking. It just seems to scream, "I paid too much for this phone case"
Overall, 5/10

The bulk always got to me with the commuter. Plus it feels kinda cheap for the price they ask. The symmetry is on sale at target (if i remember correctly) and felt pretty nice in the hands, sacrifice some protection though. I always went with defender cause of the built in screen protector but they don't have that for the s8 :/ branched off to the monarch from uag thus go around... it's actually pricier but so sleek and awesome in the hands!
