I’ll often come across words in names of places or people in fantasy works that are based around an archaic or uncommon word, often used to “secretly” hint at the deeper meaning. An example that comes to mind is “Iudex Gundyr” from Dark Souls 3; you can take iudex to mean judge.
I want to do something similar. I have a particular theme in mind, but I don’t know any fitting words and most thesaurus just give a few common responses, which brings us back to the title. Does anyone have any suggestions?

you can take iudex to mean judge. Because it's Latin for Judge. You don't want a thesaurus, you want an English-Latin dictionary (or Google translate).

Foyle's Philavery: A Treasury of Unusual Words is what Catherine O'Hara used during Schitt's Creek to find strange words for Moira's vocabulary. I'm not sure if it's that expensive everywhere but I'm sure there are other places on the internet to get a hold of it. I can't speak to them but Little Book of Lost Words and Dictionary of the Strange, Curious, and Lovely came up in similar suggestions.
