Hi Shawn Z,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, thanks for the suggestion. I had decided to just change my email address to another email account, so I've been receiving the emails there. My plan was to do exactly what you suggested with regards to contacting the web site, but I wanted to wait for your response to see if there was any more that can be done on the outlook side. I will contact them and see if they in fact maintain a list of "unsubscribed" email addresses, but in all honesty, I don't believe this will solve the issue, as I didn't unsubscribe on THEIR side (i.e.: click the unsubscribe link in the body of their email), plus, based on my initial converstations with them, they said that their system shows the emails being sent, and indeed, my "sent messages" folder on their system lists the emails sent from their system.

I believe this to be an Outlook issue that stems from the inability to remove email addresses from the "unsubscribed list" in Outlook.

Can you please tell me (Or ask the Outlook Team) WHY Outlook doesn't provide a way to remove email addresses from the "unsubscribed list"? This strikes me as an obvious functionality omission that should part of the Outlook mail settings. Does "blocking" email addresses work the same way? Once you block someone, they are forever blocked? Surely Microsoft can see that this is extremely poor UX design.

Thanks again Shawn!

I look forward to your response as well.

Dear MSUser367110

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

l understand that you want to re-enable receiving emails from an "usubscribed" sender.

At first, you can ask the email sender to confirm if sending emails to other users will be blocked. If it can be sent normally.

You can refer to the following links:

Block or unblock senders in Outlook - Microsoft Support

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope these steps help address your concerns. Let me know if you need any further assistance or guidance.

Best Regards

Thanks Louie.

I have tried all of your suggestions (deleting broswer history, cookies and caches; trying InPrivate mode; trying on a different device) and unfortunately the option to manage subscriptions in the settings menu still does not appear - neither does the option to unsubscribe from a specific email when i select it (as per your suggestion in point 4). Perhaps it is an account specific oddity? Would be really grateful if this could be resolved. Thanks, Nick

Hi NickC1EG,

We see that you’re having issues managing the subscriptions from some of the emails you’re receiving, as the specific settings or the Subscriptions option isn’t not showing on your account. We’ll check on this and assist you in addressing this concern.

This may be an account-related issue or may have something to do with the browser being used in showing all the options in the Outlook.com website. To isolate this concern, we’d like to clarify the following:

  1. May we verify if you’ve already tried clearing the browsing history, cache, and cookies of the browser you’re using? You try this if you’re not yet done, as it will clear some components in the browser which may be affecting the option not to be visible. Please refer to these articles for the steps that you may follow:

View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge

View and delete your browsing history in Internet Explorer

  1. How about trying to do private browsing from the browser being used?

  1. May we confirm if you’ve already checked on other browsers and devices if you’re also not seeing the Subscription option from there? If you haven’t tried this yet, you may try to do so, as it will help us to narrow down the possible cause of this.
  2. Also, would you be able to check on the emails you’re subscribed to, if you’re seeing the option Unsubscribe | Manage subscriptions option in the actual email itself? If yes, then you may try unsubscribing to that email using that option if you’d want to stop getting emails from that sender or select on Manage subscriptions to check if it will direct you to the Subscription using that way.

Please respond to this thread to let me know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform me by replying to this post.

Hi,

Thank you for posting on the forum today. I’m Bambi, a user like you and I’ll be happy to assist you.

A subscription in Outlook is a feature that allows you to manage your email newsletters and marketing emails from various sources. You can see a list of your subscriptions in the Settings menu, and you can unsubscribe from any of them with one click. This can help you reduce clutter in your inbox and avoid spam or phishing emails.

However, sometimes Outlook may mistakenly identify some of your regular emails as subscriptions, and add them to the list without your consent. This can cause problems with sending or receiving emails, as Outlook may block or delay them. This is what might have happened to your husband’s hotmail account.

To prevent this from happening, you can check your subscriptions list regularly and delete any unwanted or incorrect entries. You can also mark your important emails as “not a subscription” by clicking on the “…” icon next to the sender’s name and selecting “This is not a subscription” from the drop-down menu. Here is a link for reference: https://cynmackley.com/2020/05/12/manage-subscriptions-in-outlook/

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install.

If you use Mailbird instead of Outlook, you may not have the same subscription feature, as Mailbird is a different email client that has its own settings and features.

I hope this answers your questions about subscriptions in Outlook. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

Best Regards, Bambi
