r/linux_gaming on Reddit: 6700xt undervolt/overclock settings in Bazzite via LACT guidance needed?
July 7, 2025 -

Hello all, recent linux convert here (at least enough to test it out over the course of this long weekend for me). My rig has a Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB for gpu, and it has worked well enough for me for the past 2 years on windows 10 with the amd adrenaline software. I had followed a detailed guide for that software for undervolt/overclock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOKaEKdusZQ, but am having issues figuring out how to translate these settings to Bazzite KDE desktop setup via LACT. I understand the min-max GPU clock bars alongside the max vram clock, but I am unsure of what the minimum vram clock, the GPU voltage offset, and the performance level/power profile mode selections. The power usage limit for my card is shown as 213w with a default of 186.

Hello all, I was trying to overclock my rtx 4090 cpu on bazzite, i used a windows os to check wich parameters to use, but i keep encountering a problem:

Green with envy seems unable to see the nvidia parameters, apparently it's a common problem related to the fact that the system is using either the hybrid or the integrated SUPERGFX settings.

I tried to force my dGPU through command line but nothing seemed to work. In fact when i list the compatible modes, only integrated and hybrid show up, any idea on how i can solve this?

(Currently out in my car waiting to pickup someone, will update with more detailed info on what i have tried once back home, putting it out there just to make the ball start rolling)

r/Bazzite on Reddit: Undervolting a 9070XT on Bazzite
November 16, 2025 -

Heya, brand new convert from Windows here, too. Installation went perfectly and now I'm learning the details on how everything works.

This is a brand new PC and I wanted to free myself from Nvidia too, so I've gotten an ASUS Prime 9070XT OC. I'd like to try undervolting it, since it apparently provides several pluses.

This, the question: what's the best way to do that on Bazzite? And if you have some experience undervolting yours, can you share your settings?

Thanks

r/linux_gaming on Reddit: Undervolt in BazziteOS
June 3, 2024 -

I have a 5700xt in my mini itx pc so I would like to undervolt the card to reduce fan noise and thermals. Is it possible to undervolt in Bazzite OS? I tried installing CoreCtrl but the app won't launch, haven't tried other packages.

Update: CoreCtrl started working after reboot, added amd control to bootloader (grub) and tried to underclock.

Currently testing with 1080mV 2000mhz, seems stable, temps are lower by 5-6% and RPM not getting as high, auto curve set for fans.

Update2: Settled on 1000mV 1925mhz, such a big difference, fan speed is halved at load and temps are 8-10 °c lower, even the junction temp!

January 3, 2024 - When I migrate to Bazzite for my host machine, what is the best way to replicate this setup? Does xwayland allow me to set clocks/power? Is vfio with hardware pass-through for each card a viable solution? r/Bazzite on Reddit: How to Undervolt GPU on ROG Ally (Bazzite)? LACT Only Adjusts Frequency
February 7, 2025 -

I’m trying to reduce GPU power consumption on my ROG Ally running Bazzite to free up more power for the CPU (for CPU-intensive Games). I installed LACT, but it only allows adjusting the GPU clock speed. Even when I lower the frequency to 1200MHz, the power consumption remains high.

I assume this is because the voltage stays the same, so lowering the clock alone doesn’t reduce power usage effectively. On Windows, tools like Adrenaline or MorePowerTool allow undervolting, but I couldn’t find a proper way to do it on Linux.

r/linux_gaming on Reddit: Running bazzite on the bc250 and had a few questions
January 2, 2026 -

Managed to grab a bc250 before the prices skyrocketed and I’m happy with the results. Great for 1080p and just a little 1440p but not recommended. Still a few things I should do though it seems.

I am wondering if anyone had a better power solution? I am just jumping two pins on the power supply with a button switch installed, but I would rather have a normal push button like a regular PC to start and power down, or wake from sleep. My current setup obviously is an issues for waking from sleep. Not sure if it’s even supported. Has anyone been able to accomplish this?

Another thing is when I put the bc250 to sleep, the power supply is still on. The bc250 is in idle but I need to reduce the idle power. Any advice on that would be really helpful. A little new to Linux builds like this, I followed the online guide, but it’s quite hard to navigate and find what I need. I currently cannot use sleep mode at all as nothing will wake it.

Lastly, has anyone got the wake through Xbox controller working or over lan? I have the original Microsoft adapter but I’m not sure that works. I can switch to Bluetooth as well. Might not work because it’s a mining card but worth a try. Looking for any input here.

r/Bazzite on Reddit: My Bazzite Machine

3 years ago, I built a PC with an i7-12700K and RTX 4070 Ti in a big and spacious Jonsbo D41 case with a 360mm AIO liquid cooler. I was totally happy with it. A year ago, I bought a Steam Deck and finished many games from my backlog. I also completely switched to Linux on all my devices. The Steam Deck is a great device, and I still love it.

When I heard about the new Steam Machine, I wanted one and planned to buy it as soon as it came out. But I changed my mind because buying it would be a problem. First, I wouldn't be able to buy it for a normal price at launch. And I didn't want to wait another year for the prices to drop. So, I decided to build a small PC that is powerful enough for 2K and 4K gaming. I wanted an all-AMD build because the drivers are built into the Linux kernel. Also, Valve and the community work hard to improve these drivers. I also wanted a console-like experience, just like on SteamOS.

Specs:

  • Case: Jonsbo T9 Black

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X, 5.4GHz (6C/12T)

  • Cooler: ID-COOLING IS-53-XT BLACK

  • GPU: Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC

  • Motherboard: ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi

  • PSU: Gamer Storm SFX 4.1 PS850G (850W)

  • RAM: G.Skill AEGIS 5 32GB 6000MHz

  • Top Fan: Arctic Cooling P12 SLIM PWM PST

The GPU takes up 2.5 slots, so I set the spine to position 1. This is my first SFF build. It was a new and cool experience for me. I understood all the pros and cons of SFF builds and wanted to build in such a compact case.

Undervolting:

  • CPU: Curve optimizer -30, Thermal throttle limit 75°C

  • GPU: -80mV voltage offset, TDP limit 230W, VRAM Clock 2660MHz

That is all I did. About the temperatures: a lot depends on the resolution, the game itself, and the in-game settings. I tested the PC on a 4K 60Hz TV and a 2K 165Hz monitor. I used maximum graphics settings in all games. I tested Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Stellar Blade.

Ambient: 27°C. In 4K, games are heavily dependent on the GPU, so the CPU is not loaded much. CPU temperatures are between 60°C and 70°C. The only exception is Cyberpunk 2077: the CPU hits the 75°C limit, but it still holds 5.4GHz.
GPU temps: 55-60°C (70-75°C Hot Spot), VRAM up to 88°C. In normal gaming, the temperatures are even lower. I can't hear any noise. The case is very quiet for its size.

At first, I wanted to install SteamOS 3.9 with RDNA 4 support. But I changed my mind and installed Bazzite OS. It looks cool, and I haven't had any problems. I installed the version with Gaming Mode so I can control everything just with a gamepad. I am very happy with this build!

Reduced GPU Clock - Bazzite
August 27, 2023 - I’ve tried disabling gpu control in core control, disabling VRR on the disabling, even manually setting refresh rate down to 60Hz (saw some discussion about an AMD issue with high or VRR refresh rates causing clocks to be stuck low. Curious if anyone has additional recommendations for troubleshooting. I’d like to stick with bazzite, but this performance is extremely limiting.

If you enabled it through LACT, select the "disable overclocking" option in the dropdown menu. If you set the boot option yourself, remove it. To enable overdrive on NixOS, you can set the following flag in system configuration: hardware.amdgpu.overdrive.enable = true; Note: if you're using Bazzite, overdrive is enabled automatically when you run ujust install-lact ·

r/Bazzite on Reddit: GPU recommendation for Bazzite

Hi Guys,

Building budget gaming setup and need your help. I have ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WIFI II motherboard with Ryzen 5 5600x and 16GB DDR4 (will add another 16GB when find good price).

The question is which GPU to get. AMD supposed to have better Linux support but NVidia has better performance. What GPU would you recommend for balance price\performance to have a fairly good and future-proof set up?
