I’ve seen a lot about a hack where people are getting a duvet insert that is bigger than their cover (such as a king insert for queen cover). I have a king bed and a regular king size duvet (or California king) are too small and don’t cover the sides.
I currently have a duvet cover that is 120x98, so an oversized or palatial king. My insert is supposed to be the same, but it actually is a few inches too small.
Has anyone tried this hack for fluffier bedding? I’m worried it’ll move all around and bunch up in places and be uncomfortable. I also don’t know what size to get for an insert since the next size up is 120x120 which is more than just a few inch difference compared to what I’ve seen others do.
Any recommendations or thoughts?

I use a king sized duvet in an oversized queen sized duvet cover. That’s how you achieve the look you see in home decor magazines. It’s a trick I learned from an ex’s mother who worked as an interior designer.

I put a king size inside my queen full/queen duvet covers. I have done this with multiple brands and also different inserts never paid any attention to the dimensions and this worked out perfectly.
