Paint Color Visualizer | HGTV Home® by Sherwin-Williams
Bring your vision to life and find the perfect colors to paint your house. Try out any color on a virtual wall – or upload your own photos for a more realistic effect – to see interior and exterior home colors come to life.
Are there any free apps where I can upload a photo of my house and see what different paint colors would look like on my front door/shutters?
Sherwin Williams has a tool for that: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer#/active/color-wall More on reddit.com
House paint visualizer?
Sherwin Williams Visualizer While this tool is neat...lighting conditions make a huge difference on paint. You really need to get paint samples and try them on the walls in question. Even chips are only so helpful. Go to the paint store, get a billion samples, tape them to the wall, narrow it down, get sample cans of the ones you think you like, slob a big swatch on the wall, look at them for a week and see what you think. Paint visualization help
The issue with what you're attempting is viewing colors that EXCEED the capability of the monitors/displays you have. Let's say you've got a bright orange paint in mind. But the monitor can only display up to a medium orange. No matter what app, the orange on the screen won't look like what you'll get in reality. ... The other issue is light. Apps can't duplicate the actual room light and reflected light on the paint. Simply using a different light bulb can change what you see painted dramatically. As will viewing paint across the day as the sunlight changes temperature (warm to cool to warm). .. The best way to go about it is: Use a display with high color accuracy and wide range. Eg. A Samsung Galaxy S22 display set to srgb mode with auto brightness off will get you very accurate. E.g. An iPhone with the display on auto tone changing will not. Typically, oled displays > ips lcd displays > anything else. You'll want the monitor to cover a full 100% sRGB color gamut range, if not better. Only if you've got the colour calibratior, calibrated the displays. 2. Get some color paint swatches of a few different colors and shades, and load the same into the app. Go to the wall/etc you want to paint and stick those swatches up. Compare vs the app to get an idea of the general color shift that occurs between app and reality. E.g. If you put up a red swatch and it looks less red on the app, you know you need to "imagine" reds looking more red in the app. E.g. The subtitle gray white vs light gray white might be easy to notice on the swatches, but looks the same in the app. You know you'll need actual paint samples to try out before picking a shade. 3. View the swatches during the morning, noon, and night. With indoor lights and without. You'll typically notice a huge difference as the light temperature and quality shifts. That peach you like in the morning might look horrible at noon, or at night with the indoor lights. .... Room lighting affects paint colors a ton. 2700k incandescent like bulbs makes everything more yellow. 5000k design bulbs makes everything more white-blue. Above that, even more blue. Because everything in print is standardised to 5000k in America, using 5000k bulbs is one way to get and see "better" colors with indoor lighting. ... Led bulbs are typically horrible for color reproduction (low CRI accuracy). You'll want to search for high cri bulbs (95 cri or higher) for the best colors. Low cri bulbs make colors look like puke no matter how nice the paint. Naturally, no issues with sunlight except the temperature change during the day (warm to cool to warm). ... Now, if you had to fly blind, 5000k lamp. 5000k desktop monitor Photo of home loaded on screen. Pantone swatches in real life + loaded on screen. Pick a color you might like. Look at it on screen and at the matching swatch. Then expect color shifting if you use low cri, non 5000k bulbs, and with sunlight shifts during the day. But, at least that'll get you in the ballpark of what color you like. More on reddit.com
