I'm a bit confused on what you mean? If you have a King bed, why not just get a King size duvet cover and then the Cali King/Super King duvet insert (or if it's alt down or down a bigger size like Palatial King)? Also, if you want to wait many duvet insert makers will custom size it for you for an upcharge. The point of a bigger duvet insert is making it just a few inches bigger than your duvet cover. This will 'trap' the duvet insert inside of the duvet cover and not have it shift around so much when you move around in bed/pull the covers up/down. It's a real pain if you have a really thin, lightweight material that likes to bunch down a lot when gravity takes over, so the best way to kind of combat this (since the ties don't really do it half the time) is to upsize the insert if you can. If it's not feasible to do so then just buying the same size will suffice but you might have some issues with it staying in place if it's thin/lightweight. If you want a down/alt down/feather insert that's fluffy as hell, though, the upsizing of your insert will def make it very, very fluffy and lovely, as many on this sub can attest to. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but it was the best sub I could think of, so, sorry if it's not, but.....
Insufferable bed snob here! (Everything else in my life is secondhand or thrift/discount store though, so I don't feel too bad.)
I'm looking for a duvet for a palatial king comforter (118"X114"), but I can only find this one horribly terribly enormously ugly set when I google it. I'd link to the awful set, but you'd have to gouge your eyes out upon viewing--it's really bad.
If I'm going to spend that much money on a comforter (the thing is pretty expensive, but as good or better than what you'd find in Neiman Marcus or somewhere and will actually cover two people sleeping in a king size bed, so, totally worth it), I want it protected, and since the only one I can find that I like is only like, 350 TC for the comforter itself (which is pretty WTF), I'm going to want at least 800 TC, more like 1000 TC or better for the duvet.
Does anyone know where I can find a 118"X114" plain white, 100% cotton 1000(ish) TC cover for my comforter?

I do not know where you can find the size you are looking for. However please consider egyptian cotton in the TC range of 300-500 - it is just as soft at 1000TC and much more durable. Softer in the long run I'd say. I would also consider pima sateen in lower thread counts; it is the softest but will wear out in just a few years. Since this is BIFL I'd go with egyptian cotton but please understand, almost nothing for your bed will be truly for life.
