Hey, itll be 5 to 10 maybe even 15 bucks depending on quality of zipper used, unsure how long to replace a zipper on pants but in my experience replacing zips on other things maybe half hour to 45mins at most per pair, assume 1$ a minute for labour which is probably cheap... I think you're getting an alright deal. In saying that im not a seamstress, you are also paying for the fact they have tools and other consumables/overheads they need to cover cost of. Unless you have thread sewing machine etc all at home already itll cost you more to do yourself probably for less quality if you're not experienced, which if you were and had the tools I assume you wouldn't be asking. There is a hobby shop idk if still around but you can use their sewing machines etc too if you want to try yourself, get zips from spotlight by the warehouse and hobby shop is in square. I've got 2 pairs of pants that the zip has broken. I called around clothing alteration places and they want $45+ per pants to replace the zip.

Has anyone replaced the zipper on a pair of jeans? I'm curious approximately what the cost might be and if it'll be worth it. They're about $100 pair of jeans I really like. Also, anyone know a good tailor near Queen/Spadina? I'm going to look up a few and call around tomorrow, figured I'd see what the hive mind thinks.

Replacing a zipper should be a pretty easy and inexpensive task. On a $100 pair of jeans I'd definitely think it's worth it.

I once had a pair of Levi’s that lost a couple of teeth from the zipper. That’s when I learned that Levi’s have a lifetime warranty. Sent an email, they sent me a prepaid return mailing pouch, sent in the jeans, and they sent me a brand new pair. Worth a try if they were expensive.

You can probably get the zipper fixed anywhere that does alterations, but if the jeans are old and not in very good shape it probably wouldn't be worth the cost. It would probably be ~$10 to get a zipper fixed

Local shop is quoting $1.5/inch which works out to almost $50 for my coat. A few bucks extra for a two way zipper. West end.
The coat was like $75 on sale a few years ago, so seems like a lot to spend on just the zipper.
