I can’t stand the texture of the duvet cover and sheets I received. I found a really cute set from anthropology in store and want to return the ones from parachute but I need the money I spent back first. How long does the refund take?
I purchase linen bedding from Parachute Home during their Black Friday sale. This was a very big splurge for me. Spoiler alert, I regret it. The bedding is terrible. It sheds constantly. My room is covered in lint. I wake up with lint on my pajamas, and lint in my armpits. My husband gets lint stuck to his facial hair. My daughter gets lint stuck between her fingers and toes. I contacted customer service during the 60 day return period and they assured me it would stop. The joke was on me, it did not stop. Here I am 8 months later, I have to vacuum my room all the time. My armpits always have lint like a put on a brand new shirt without washing it first. It is annoying as effffffffff. I reached out to customer service, they claim it is shedding a normal amount. It is now my mission to spread the word and let people know how fucking awful this product is. And the 60 day return period for that kind of investment is a joke. I wish I had tried Quince, as least they offer a 365 day return even if their product might also be crappy, idk.
Update 10/28/2022: I tried doing a dispute but due to the length of time that had passed, my credit card company would not help. I wish I had tried that sooner, but I had a baby in March and was distracted for awhile. I finally have just stopped using the Parachute linen bedding because it was still shedding lint everywhere and I could not handle it. I have an infant, I don't need to be making my life harder by battling all the lint alllll the time. So now I have this super expensive bedding just sitting in a closet. It makes me so mad. I am so disappointed that Parachute does not stand behind its products and sells such crap at such a high price point.
After only 4 months of owning a set of Parachute’s Heirloom TENCEL™ Linen Sheets, the fitted sheets are literally falling to pieces from nothing other than my bodyweight.
Some quicks details:
-
owned for 4 months
-
I use natural detergent brands and only use about 1/2 what the detergent brands recommend
-
have always dried on Low Heat
I’ll let the picture speak for itself. I can also create new tears by pulling the fabric apart with the smallest amount of pressure. It’s just become sooo frail. Oddly, top sheet and pillow cases have retained their strength
Both pics are from about a week apart
Hi - I combed this sub for bedsheet recs, but I wasn't really able to find LL Bean sheets in the color I prefer. So, I ordered a set of Parachute at a cost of $185. On the pro side, I was able to order a Queen fitted bottom and a King sized top, which just works better. The packaging was beautiful.
However, these sheets are surprisingly rough. Scritchy. You can see the slight unevenness of the weave upon visual inspection.
I previously had all Calvin Klein 200 ct which are crisp, long lasting, and wonderful. However, my previous partner was anti-fitted sheet and now in my new life, my housekeeper and Boyfriend both wanted fitted sheets for the bottom sheet. (I know, you didn't think there could be that much drama about sheets, but my god.) I also got a new set of Calvin Kleins for about $50, but they are 300ct and a little floppy for my taste but very soft.
ALL THIS TO SAY: Does anyone else have the Parachute sheets? I am coming close to the return window and I am wondering if they will get better with washing (have been washed twice)...or if I should get my $185 back and try again elsewhere.
Thanks.
Hey everyone, I've always referenced this sub when trying out new bedding. I've been a reader behind the scenes, but never a poster. So, I thought it was time to contribute by sharing my thoughts on the various bedding I've tried over the years. I won't delve too deep into any one item, but if you have questions, feel free to ask!
A bit about my sleeping style: I share a bed with my significant other. We keep the house at around 70 degrees at night and live in a warm climate. I'm a side sleeper and have a preference for very fluffy comforters. However, I haven't been able to use them as much since my significant other tends to sleep very hot, while I'm just an average temperature sleeper. Even at 70 degrees, it's a rare night when I get too hot.
I've categorized my experiences by brand and mentioned those items still in rotation. I also included a x/10 rating for each item with 5 being truly average (so not bad by any means) and a WBA - would buy again or a WNBA - would not buy again. Hopefully some of you find this helpful.

Sateen queen sheet set (7/10) WBA - This was my favorite sheet set for a few years, and it got a ton of use. The Sateen wasn’t too hot for me (but it was for my SO), and I liked how soft the sheets were. Once we upgraded to a king this set was retired, thought we still have it for the guest room.
-
Percale duvet cover (6.5/10) WBA - Before moving in with my SO, this was on my bed 24/7. Nothing about it blew me away, but it was a really solid duvet cover and paired well with the lightweight down duvet insert I used with it.
-
Lightweight down duvet insert (6.5/10) WBA - Like the duvet cover this was on my bed 24/7 for years. I really liked how light and fluffy this insert was and I honestly miss being able to sleep with it to this day, it was just too hot for my SO. I will say that during hot summer nights I would occasionally get too warm and there was a fair amount of feather escapeage when I fluffed up to duvet.
-
Light weight down alternative duvet insert (5/10) WNBA - I bought this at the same time as the down duvet insert to compare to the two and this one didn’t match the feel, light and fluffy, of the down version so I returned it.
-
Linen sheet set (3/10) WNBA - I probably didn’t give this set the chance in deserved but I found it to be entirely too scratchy. I gave it wash, threw it on the bed slept on it for one night and returned the next day. I really wanted to like these sheets and I hear linen can be some of the best long term bedding, sadly this set just wasn’t for me.
-
Down side sleeper pillow (5/10) WNBA - It’s worth knowing that I am on a constant journey to find THE pillow for me and alas, this was not it. It was my nightly pillow for a while but eventually was rotated out. I still use it from time to time and I don’t think it’s a bad pillow at all.
-
Everyday linen quilt (5/10) WBA - Last year we upgraded to a king bed and that meant time for a new comforter, so I decided to buy a bunch and try them all out. This and the following two quilts were three of the four we tried. Overall I found this quilt to be lacking in warmth and substance, it was just too flat and chilly for my liking. Though my SO liked it from the heat perspective. Ultimately it was returned.
-
Cloud cotton quilt (7/10) WBA - this quilt was great, a good blend of warmth, softness, and fluffiness. My SO thought it would be too warm in the summer so it ultimately was returned. We might try the split comforter method and if we do this is a contestant for my side.
-
Linen box quilt (4/10) WNBA - My thoughts are pretty much the same thoughts as the everyday linen quilt except it was ugly on top of it. Ultimately it was returned.

Classic core percale sheet set (4/10) WNBA - Even though I used them for years, they were in the rotation with the sateen parachute set above, I never really like them. Why did I keep them for so long? Your guess is as good as mine. I will say that I liked how cool they were in the summer and after washing a lot they did get softer.
-
Lightweight down duvet insert (2/10) WNBA - I used this for maybe a year before upgrading to the parachute duvet insert. I really didn’t know how bad it was until I had that for comparison. This was truly a poor item; it would crinkle whenever I moved, was too small for my duvet cover (Parachute, mentioned above), had barely any loft so it was flat as a pancake, and didn’t provide much warmth (though not a bad thing in the summer). As soon as the parachute duvet arrived, this went to Goodwill.

Performance comforter (5/10) WNBA - This was the winner in the great 2022 comforter-off when we upgraded to the king size bed. It was the best compromise between what I wanted and what my SO wanted. It does sleep as cool as advertised, during the winter I’ll get cold and surprisingly my SO will too! I also like that it isn’t completely flat there is some fluff to it. Overall, I find it too small for our bed, I think another 8-10inched in the width would make it much for functional for two people who like to cocoon. Since we are talking about going the split route this may soon be retired.

RL 464 percale sheet set (8/10) WBA - All around, a great set of sheets. In my opinion, they are the best blend of price and performance. They are soft, cool and comfortable. At around the $300 price point when I bought them for a King set I’d recommend to anyone who likes percale sheets.
-
Organic cotton sateen sheet set (7/10) WBA - I expected these to be a lot softer and silkier than the percales, but they weren’t. Not to say they aren’t soft - they are - but not much more than the percales. These get less use since they are part of our “winter sheet collection”. So once they break in more, they might surpass the percales.

Crisp percale sheet set (3/10) WNBA - This is the same sheet set recommended by the Strategist as being one that matches the Frette hotel collection but at a fraction of the price. I bought in and tried them but wasn’t impressed at all. They are almost too small (12in mattress), only have elastic on the corners, and are firm instead of soft. I can’t image the Frette sheets are like this at all, and if they are I’m disappointed in Frette without even trying them. All that said they are still in the current rotation as part of the “summer sheet collection”.

Breeze comforter (5/10) WNBA - I don’t have a whole lot to say other than it felt like a normal comforter. I don’t sleep hot so I can’t speak to how well it cools. This was my SO’s comforter and when we moved in together and it became what we both used.
-
Breeze duvet cover (3/10) WNBA - This is was stupid heavy compared to other duvet covers I’ve used, mainly the parachute cover mentioned above. Worse of all when paired with the Breeze comforter it I actually got hot, and I don’t sleep hot! So it did exactly the opposite of what it was intended to do. My So didn’t last long with this combo and we eventually use the parachute duvet with the breeze comforter.

Organic relaxed sateen sheet set (5/10) WBA - I expected more out of these sheets based on reviews but they just strike me as average overall. Nothing particularly bad or good stands out about them. Currently in rotation as part of the “winter sheet collection”.

Giza 45 Percale Collection (9/10) WBA - Everything you’ve read is true; these are the softest sheets I have ever slept in. They honestly feel like silk anytime I get in. They are also extremely cool and breathable. That said, they are sheer - like see-through sheer - so if that bothers you, know that going in. The reason I don’t give a 10/10 is that the overall buying experience was severely lacking at this price point. Based on the email communication, shipping, and packaging, you would have thought I ordered $100 sheets from Macy’s. The sheets deliver, no questions asked, but my $300 RLH sheets came in packaging 10x nicer. That said, I can’t wait to get the Giza 45 Sateen Collection and give those a try.
We have one really nice set of linen sheets from Parachute. We bought them MAX 15 months ago. They were NOT cheap, and this morning they ripped.
I fear it was due to only having one set of sheets? I’ve been trying to get another set but didn’t want to shell out the $$$. Now I feel like we need 3 sets and to rotate to maintain the quality. What do you recommend
I love that there’s a community out there that feels passionately about a cozy bed ❤️
This is my experience with Parachute, specifically their linen sheets, for anyone that comes to this sub looking for info!
I bought a linen fitted sheet and flat sheet in the seasonal color ochre from Parachute in June of 2023 while they were on clearance, I think I ended up spending about 180$ on them. That was insane to me as someone who’d just slept on microfiber and really old cotton sheets, but I’d been looking into linen bedding for awhile, had some friends that liked parachute, and wanted to up my bedding game.
I wash my sheets on warm/delicate, tumble dry low, every week. I occasionally sub out for one of my other cheap sheet sets if I feel like it but I end up using my linen sheets about 85% of the time. It’s me and my husband sleeping in them, no animals. I have experienced quite a LOT of shedding from them, like every time I would dry them and clean out dryer lint there would be a whole little blanket of yellow that had accumulated. I was a little concerned about that but it seemed like it was fairly common with linen sheets 🤷♀️
About a week ago I discovered a small (1.5 inch long) worn spot on the top sheet in a random spot. A couple of the threads were snapped and it was essentially the beginning of a small hole/rip, but having sewn a lot with linen I know how badly it frays and figured my small problem would become large very fast. So that was approximately 9 months after I bought them. I was always planning on patching up the sheets whenever they developed holes and eventually using them to make clothes whenever I wanted to retire them as sheets, but I honestly figured I’d be using them for years and years before that would happen.
I immediately went to the Parachute website and looked for warranty information, but I couldn’t find anything referencing a warranty for their sheets. Before I wrote a scathing review I figured I’d send them an email asking about a warranty. I explained my problem and definitely let some of my frustration show in the email because I was totally expecting them to just say “oh what a bummer, nothing we can do.” To my surprise about 2 days later I got a polite email back with a product survey for me to fill out; I did and also sent them pictures of the damaged sheet. They immediately replied back saying that although the ochre color was out of stock (seasonal), they could replace my top sheet with any of the other colors I wanted, or send me an ochre colored sheet in their brushed cotton fabric. I responded that I wanted an ‘evergreen’ color sheet and they immediately sent it! They also did not ask for me to send my old sheet back in, so I still get to patch it and keep using it or I could go ahead and make clothes out of it.
I have definitely read other reviews complaining about product durability, and I have read some reviews of people that have had their products for years with no problems. This was my experience with parachute; I was really pleased with their customer service and responsiveness, less pleased with their product durability. Honestly next time I do actually buy some linen sheets I’ll probably be trying a different brand to see if they hold up better, but I’m happy that I get to continue to use these ones. Also, after using these Parachute sheets for nine months they are UNBELIEVABLY soft and comfortable. Hopefully this helps you make your decision about buying from them!
I bought linen sheets from parachute about two years ago and they have not held up well. The fitted sheet wore out at the foot of the bed, so parachute sent me a new one and the new one has done the same. I now realize that a lot of people have issues with parachute and I probably should’ve done more research before spending nearly $600 on bedding from them.
Anyways, I love the feel of linen sheets and I want to replace them with some decent quality ones. Ideally not too expensive either. Any recs?
I just boxed up my Parachute side-sleeper pillow to return. I'm very happy with the return process, but not with the pillow.
I've had several other manufacturers' side-sleep down/feather pillows, and this was the least supportive, least comfortable one of the bunch. There was no weight to it, almost like it was filled with foam. I've had two Downlite pillows, both for side-sleepers, both with the same specs (10/90 White Goose Down Medium Hotel Chamber Pillow for Side Sleepers), but their new one wasn't as well made - the chambers didn't hold up as well.
I will try a mostly feather pillow to see how that works - I ordered a Down & Feather Classic Feather (75% feather).
Has anyone else had the same experience? Have you found something that works for you?
To return sheets do they need to look like they were never opened? How would one fold them as they came? Can I put them on my bed to then decide if they are keepers? Some sheets are advertised to soften after washing. What if that doesn't happen? Any guidance would be appreciated.
