Hi I ordered a parcel for collection at my local post office located inside WHSMITH to be delivered by parcel force. I got a text yesterday stating my parcel has been delivered. When I went to the post office my item had not been scanned in and they said it was not there. However there was a picture of it being handed over to a WHSmith employee. The employee said he left it behind the desk on the floor in the post office and now it isn’t there. They theorised that when the Royal Mail delivery man came to do the collection rounds he has picked my parcel up by mistake. They were useless and didn’t offer any help whatsoever and now I’m stuck on what to do next. Has this happened to anyone else before and what was the outcome? The parcel is worth almost £500!!!!

The parcel should make its way back through the system and get delivered there again by either RM or PF. This is really the PO at fault rather than RM though for not isolating the parcels from different couriers correctly, RM just collects whatever they are told to collect or whatever is in their designated collection spot, it's PO staff that tell them what to collect or put it in the designated collection spot.

Likely that it will just go through the network again and be delivered back to the WHSMITH Counter in a day or two. Seems a bit silly that these parcels are just stored on the floor until they are collected by the recipient. And even sillier that someone there has then handed the parcel to the Royal Mail employee doing the collection.
