I've been using the Black Hole 32L for the last 1.5 years (since the refresh came out in August 2023) and although I do really like it and continue to use it, there are definitely a few annoying things about it. I don't know if they're the same as for the 25L but I'm curious if anyone else has the same qualms with it: The position of the top handle is really weird... It makes it so that you can't really hang the bag on the back of a bathroom stall or whatever, since the rigidity of the bag completely falls apart if you try to open it while holding from the handle. If you pick up the bag from the handle while it's unzipped, all the weight transfers to the bottom of the zippers on either side, and it feels like you're going to rip the bag in half. The side pockets suck. Every non-disposable bottle can just fall right out of it. There's no way to cinch down the pocket. My biggest issue by far - the shoulder straps and back panel are just not comfortable to me at all. Maybe it's better with the 25L because there's less weight when you've got it fully loaded, but for the 32, I feel like they should have used thicker/stronger shoulder straps. For context I'm 6'3 200 lbs and used to carrying bags. The 32L just doesn't handle the weight comfortably for me. I made a video about this yesterday actually - I'm not a youtuber, I just had to share my opinions on it somewhere since this bag is so frequently brought up here in my favorite sub. It’s amazing. I’ve had two(Patagonia warranty is pretty good) and they’ve been amazing. Everything from travelling, commuting, hiking, climbing and even a couple of SAR call-outs and it’s been through everything and worked great.

So today I received the new black hole bags in black and smolder blue. The new material is really nice imo and is a lot better than the older shiny material. The large logo isn’t the best but I’ve heard that it’s easy to remove so I’ll see about that. Water bottle pockets are nice, don’t take up space and are tight so things don’t fall out. Interior space is nice and large and I’ve managed to fit a pretty decent amount of things inside. I might be blind but it seems like they removed the hydration hose pass through. My only slight annoyance is that the top pocket is slightly inconvenient to use when the bag is packed to the top. If anyone’s got any questions about the bags I’m happy to answer them.
